I've this computer I'm dealing with, it has the following motherboard Z77-D3H by Gigabyte: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4720#ov
I can't seem to get the audio working on it.

I downloaded the latest drivers (VIA audio driver - v11.1000b) for Win10 (x64), installed fine and rebooted. No sound. Not even a crack. I know the equipment's fine because it runs on a Linux live CD.

I uninstalled the drivers, reinstalled and all that nonsense but to no avail. Eventually, I went to the audio chipset manufacturer's website (VIA) and their latest release for Win10 64-bit says VT2021 is supported (which is what my motherboard uses, according to gigabyte's specification page)

Yet... still no luck.

I'm running out of ideas here. I don't know what to do. It doesn't seem like other people have trouble with this specific motherboard either.

Help?

Have you configured the playback devices and correctly set the speakers/output?
Yeah, maybe it defaults to hdmi audio or sth.
Also, have you checked the device manager or event viewer for warnings/errors?
I've two devices at the device manager. Nothing weird there.
AMD High Definition Audio Device: (This device is working properly.)
VIA HD Audio (Win 10): (This device is working properly.)

Sound settings is set to Speakers (default device), it's enabled and everything.

Event viewer is clear too of any errors and warnings. It's a fairly fresh install of Windows 10.

I suspect this motherboard isn't... fully supported on Windows 10. Something's amiss.

There is a beta bios from 2014 that fixes audio issues.
