As the title explains, I downloaded some of the goodies for witcher 3 a long time ago via Galaxy. I then tried to delete them from the folder but only moments later, I can see temporary files appear in the folder (C:\Users\"Username"\Documents\The Witcher 3\Witcher Goodies). And sure enough, when the files disappear they turn into all the goodies I deleted.

This seems like a sync issue, of which I already have some problems getting to sync my saves.

Anyone got a solution ?

Edited for clarificaation of which folder i was talking about and that I use Galaxy

Don't use Galaxy. Problem solved.

It's designed to attract publishers. It's not designed with users and functionality in mind.

I assume you are using Galaxy?

Your going to have to be more clear... Galaxy doesn't download "goodies" ( ie, manual, wallpapers, map, avatars, etc.) into the Documents folder. It downloads them into the installation folder (by default) of the game or a custom location set by the user. The folder it downloads into is called "!Downloads". Though I can't remember were really old versions of Galaxy downloaded them.

It also doesn't sync goodies automatically, if you deleted them and then they got redownloaded you would see that in the download queue which is in the bottom right of Galaxy.

The only thing Galaxy will sync automatically is cloud saves.. whill usally means it just syncs the relevant folder usually in documents.

So if you goodies were stored in the witcher 3 documents folder then the problem is probably that the cloud saves feature is picking up the goodies which is a bad thing and re-sync's them when you play the Witcher 3. Goodies shouldn't be stored there, as this means your limited cloud space for saves is now filled with Witcher 3 goodies.

Try doing this... start the Witcher 3, leave it running and alt-tab to the desktop. Now delete the goodies. Go back into the Witcher 3 and exit the game. Now Galaxy should re-sync the files stored in the Documents\Witcher 3 to GOG servers without picking up the goodies (hopefully).

Thank you for your response and sorry for the late one from me.

Yes, I am using Galaxy and I used the "More" tab to download the goodies, waaaay back when I first got the game. The files ended up in the folder path I specified in my first post. this was when Galaxy was in beta so it might be the reason why.

I tried deleting the goodies in question and then running the game. This prompted a cloud sync and the files getting downloaded again to the same folder (C:\Users\"Username"\Documents\The Witcher 3\Witcher Goodies). The download queue is empty so it doesn't appear there when they are downloaded.

So your theory that Galaxy only syncs saves is not holding up from how I see it (although it clearly seems like a bug/mistake).

The limited space thing is probably correct then, since I quickly ran out of save space.

I then followed your advice on running the game, alt-tabbing out, deleting the folder, then going back in the game and exiting. This seems to have solved the problem for me.

thank you again for your help and i hope that anyone with the same issue finds the solution here.

With the Witcher 3 it actually does snyc more than saves, it syncs the entire Witcher 3 documents folder (by the looks of it) because I assume the only thing the developers intended to be there are saves and configuration files. But yea it should probably only grab the actual saves or at-least the save folder. All GOG can do is point Galaxy to the save folder really, it doesn't actually detect if what is in there is an actual save or not. If you want I can report that to GOG for you to see if they want to change that?

And since there were being downloaded via cloud saves you wouldn't see it it in the download queue. That a completly seperate feature from the main download mechanism that Galaxy uses.

Yea that's because Galaxy will download stuff stored in the cloud when your first start the game, and then again sync all changes to the cloud when you exit (like if you deleted a save). So when you were starting the game it was downloading the goodies from the cloud, and because you modifed what was in the folder while it was running it was able to register that stuff in the folder was deleted when you exited the game and re-sync those changes back to the cloud.

No problem though, glad it worked for you.

Btw, tried looking online and couldn't find any answer, is there a way to undo the "marked as solution"? Misclicked on the first reply by accident.

I don't think so, I think your actually only suppose to be able to pick one person... but due to some forum bugs, it's possible to select more than. It's not a big deal though, so don't worry about.

Glad your got your issue solved... that is the main thing. :)
