I'm looking forward to both of them eventually although I lean more towards The Witcher 3 because I'm more excited and enthusiastic about CD Projekt RED and their values compared to Rockstar. It's hard to say which game has the greater replay value since TW3 isn't out yet. They share some things in common such as being large open world games, but other than that they're very different games that appeal to different types of gamers. I'm one that both games appeal to but there will be folks that lean toward one or the other for reasons other than replay value.

If pressed to pick one, I'd pick both because well... one can own both and not have to choose one or the other. :) Having said that, and wanting both though - for the short term I'm choosing neither as I don't care for Rockstar's DRM so wont give them my money, instead I'll put it on my wishlist and perhaps get it as a gift for my birthday or whatnot from a friend/family or win it in a giveaway or promo or something 1-10 years from now, no rush! As for The Witcher 3 well, I do want to buy that but not until I'm able to confirm 100% that it runs on my current hardware in a way that is acceptable to me, and if not I'll hold off buying it until down the line after I upgrade in a year or 3 etc.

Either way, both games shall at some point in time somehow become mine and I shall rot my brain for countless hundreds of hours on each, maybe even at the same time side by side with 2 keyboards! ;oP

Even once you got past all the DRM bullshit (which took an exorbitant amount of time and no shortage of undiluted rage) GTA 4, rather than bolstered by all the things they added, was diluted by those same things. It was a very middling, boring game. It was like the project lead was some kind of fucking Sims addict and insisted they shoehorn that shit in there somehow. Really tedious.

Rockstar are way too far up their own arse if they think their games are worth even a fraction of their bullshit.

Now take Saints Row 3 & 4 as a comparison and holy fuck. That's how it's done right there. Everything they added only added to the fun to be had. Saints Row is like a psychotic, yet extremely generous uncle who always knows how to live it up and have a good time. GTA 4 was yelling at the kids to get off its fucking lawn. Tired, old and past it.
I haven't played it, but I've read that some people are having some really game-breaking problems with it. That would be slightly more forgiveable if they weren't linked to Rockstar being paranoid about their own paying customers.

Admittedly they only just stopped short of gunning down their paying customers in the street with GTA4. So their bullshit this time around does seem like an improvement. But that doesn't make it forgiveable. GTA 5 has been out long enough that they know the kind of money they can expect to make on PC just using Steam as DRM.

I bought it from greenmangaming so I have just the rockstar social version. I'm not really fan of that but I haven't had much trouble with it. Only thing is if I try to add it as a non-steam game in there to use steam overlay, it crashes.
Apart from that I've had quite crash free experience..
In the morning I drove a bicycle in the beach (in the game). It was surprisingly relaxing. =P

From what I've seen it's a vast improvement in every respect. I'll take another look at it probably around Christmas and see if they've ironed out the problems (and put it in a sale) by then.

That is my plan as well and I am also hoping that by that Rockstar will have ironed out most of the issues. But even now it is still by and large a really well done port which you can judge for yourself from TB's analysis video.

It is done by the same team that ported Max Payne 3 which was also really good, so if thats anything to go by then you only need online to activate the game and then it can be played offline in singleplayer.

There already was some 300 mb patch.. I don't really know what that did but for me at least it didn't break anything.

I've also tried gta online, I guess it is a good add-on. I played tennis with some dude. I just wish I was better with deathmatches.. But what can you do, using a controller without aim assist.. when shooting, mouse users will blow my head off (sounded quite dirty).

But yeah it's pretty good.

Hopefully Witcher 3 will be the messiah game we all are hoping for but I'm not really holding my breath to have totally bug free experience from the start. Still.. I've waited so fucking much for that game so I will be first in line to try and play it.

Yeah, Max Payne 3 seemed pretty good to me. Not sure why it got such a lukewarm reception. I know it wasn't all rainy and set in New York, but I think that anyone who thinks that's what Max Payne was about is missing the point anyway.
That's another one that will probably benefit from some serious patching. I don't know. I'll have to see if I can resist the urge to buy it on release or not.

Indeed, I don't know why it got a lukewarm reception from most of the fans either. I really enjoyed it and also liked the story as well, the dialogue was on point along with being memorable which made me glad that they didn't change the original voice actor. I even had fun messing around in multiplayer which is surprisingly fun once in a while.

Nope, GTAV can't be played offline 24/7, this from the official system requirements on the Rockstar website(emphasis mine):
"Other requirements: Installation and online play requires log-in to Rockstar Games Social Club (13+) network; Internet connection required for activation, online play, and periodic entitlement verification; software installations required including Rockstar Games Social Club platform, DirectX, Chromium, and Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 sp1 Redistributable Package, and authentication software that recognizes certain hardware attributes for entitlement, digital rights management, system, and other support purposes. Single use serial code registration via Internet required; registration is limited to one Rockstar Games Social Club Account (13+) per serial code; only one log-in allowed per Social Club account at any time; serial code(s) are non-transferable once used; Social Club accounts are non-transferrable."

Ah yes, I forgot about that one and its really a very anti-consumer measure by Rockstar which is a real shame. If they left it like Max Payne 3 then more people would have been willing to tolerate Rockstar Social Club DRM.

There is also the hardware based DRM. Two pieces of draconian DRM. THAT is why I haven't gotten and so far won't be getting GTAV.

You can get it DRM free, alright. Not in steam, though (noSTEAM)... And not right now, perhaps 1-2 weeks later...

On second thought I will probably wait for a heavy discount for GTA V if I am really inclined to play it sometime in the future.

Lol that would be cool. I'm not so much trying to ask people to chose as much as I'm asking what games do you think will get more hours out of you. The fact that they are both diffrent games plays into that. Wit GTA you can steal cars. But with TW3 you'll get to swim under water and go inside most buildings and huts. This can add to the immersion. Personally I wish there was a FPS mode for W3. To be frank the only reason I am playing GTA V is because of that mode.

Your system should be able to run W3 but the graphic might not look their best.
