It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

nightcraw1er.488: Right. I just download and installed Wizardry 8: setup_wizardry_8_2001_12_23_(22306).exe, and what do you know, it fails to work for me also!! I also note this “new” version does not have any premade characters, and there is an awful scratching noise each time it switches screens, obviously messing with the sound card.

It is therefore obvious that GOG have broken something in the later versions of Wizardry 8, which means it does not work on Windows 10 where it did before.

timppu: I used that same installer and didn't have any issues in Windows 10 Pro 64bit.

True though it doesn't have premade characters in it, I wasn't aware older installers had that? But that has nothing to do with Windows 10 compatibility I guess.
Well, even if that is the case, it seems like something which is needed by the new version is not setup be the new version. As I say, I installed both versions in exactly the same way, to the same machine, in the space of an hour or two. The first ran fine, with the additional content. The latest made screeching noises before the movies, did not have the premise characters, and crash just after character creation. That screams to me something wrong in the new version. It could be that you have something else installed or setup which helps it to run which I am missing, not going to work through it as that’s what we pay gog for!
I just installed it...
- setup_wizardry8_2.0.0.6.exe
- Started the exe from the installation folder (not in Program Files)
- Windows 10 x64 v1909, Directx9 installed, DirectPlay ON, GTX970
- Ran nglide_config.exe to set 4:3 resolution (1920x1440)

Works fine!

ShimakazeKun: - Install and use secom drivers
- Tried nocd patch from fansite
You've been reading about the retail version. GOG games are DRM free.

"False security feeling"...pardon? I think you understand nothing!

What you are not understanding is that this a topic about Windows 10 compaibility with a game. Your post is completely absurd and suspicious.

If you want to recomend me an OS recomend it in a different topic or make the recomendation to every Windows 10 user in the forum.

ShimakazeKun:
Try turning off game mode in settings. I've seen some reports from people that having this option on actually makes games run much worse and slower for some.
