With Broken Lines and Warsaw recently showing up on GOG, I am looking for a historical, squad-based, turn-based WWII RPG.

Does such a thing exist?

The closest I have found is Silent Storm, but from what I gather that has fantastical / scifi elements.

Would also like to know.

That's a tall order. ;)

Silent Storm is indeed the closest answer. A No-Panzerkleins mod exists, that removes the sci-fi parts.
Edit: the sci-fi part comes in the late game, so you may want to give it a shot.

Another War is a 2002 RPG/adventure/tactics/takeyourpick in which you lead three men in a Europe-wide bashfest against the Wehrmacht. It's in real time, but not having played it, I cannot vouch for the absence or presence or fantastical/sci-fi elements.

The upcoming Burden of Command may lean more on the wargame side of things, but it sticks to realism, is turn-based, squad-based, and puts an emphasis on morale and psychology.

Soldiers at War by SSI was pretty good. No Sci Fi that I can remember, but plays more like a Dirty Dozen movie in the way the missions play out.

I would say: no.

But if you're willing to make some cuts from your checklist (mainly the "turn based" and the "RPG" parts), maybe have a look at the Hidden&Dangerous games:

I believe you can pre-plan your attacks/missions on a map, and then execute your plan in real time per button press.

Yes, Burden of Command is definitely on my list when it releases.

BTW, thanks for the news on the Silent Storm mod that removes the "scifi" elements. That makes the game much more interesting to me! Those look great! will definitely wishlist.

Perhaps there could be some WWII mod for Jagged Alliance 2 1.13.
If you are willing to bend a little in the era, it the the closest I can recommend.

Question: Does it have to be turn based? Because the entire Close Combat series just about fits the bill.

Now that I'm checking more closely, what's wrong with 'Broken Lines'? To me at least, it seems to fit the bill.

Anyone played that? Is it good?

It's a game about a group of eight soldiers who crash-land behind enemy lines. It's up to you to lead them home while fending off the enemy and helping them deal with the horrors of war.

Another good but barely known game that fits the description is Team Assault: Baptism of Fire.

It sounds like there are only scenarios / maps and not a true campaign, but I'm fine with that. Wow, can only purchase physically through Matrix' site. C'mon GOG, IMHO this looks like a hidden gem!
