Well, the matchups are decided for the West. My Red Wings are playing Original Six rival Chicago in the Semi-Finals for what should be an epic showdown. I'm so stoked since this will be the last year Detroit and Chicago will be in the same division and conference.

Anyone else here paying attention to the NHL Playoffs? How many hockey fans are GOGers? The last few years have had playoff threads, I figured it was time to start one for this year.

Indeed! I'm so excited for the Leafs this year. I have nothing against Boston (yet), but I want Toronto to continue with their success, so that the old time Wings-Leafs rivalry will be as interesting and warranted as ever next year when it gets renewed due to the league restructuring!
I am a Wild fan but for them to just make the playoffs was decent and they where over matched against Chicago. I agree the Chicago-Detroit match up looks to be a tough battle. Two more game sevens on Monday night, got to love this time of year if you are a hockey fan.

The Wild is the only other team that I really root for. Although I was raised in Detroit for the first 15 years of my life, the last 14 I've been living in the Red River valley.
Who do you guys think is going to win tonight? Although I'd like Toronto to get the win, I think Boston will advance, due to their immense playoff experience. I'd say it'll be a tight game, 2 to 1 in OT.

Rangers/Caps will be a score-fest, with the Caps winning 5 to 3.

Wings fan? Me too, kind of. I'm a transplant up from Missouri eight or so years ago. My Blues...yeah let's not talk about them...but the WIngs were super sweet last night. Not holding out much hope against that unreal Chicago team but I'll be here watching every game with my Lindstrom sweater on.
Sorry guys but I think we (Chicago) are going to take the cup this year. Every time we've lost we've just got more pissed off and came back stronger the next game. Though I think this Hawks Wings series is going to be fun.

I must say though I am going to miss the Chicago / Detroit rivalry, though the move may mean that it can happen in the Cup game some year. That would be fun.

Don't apologize! XD I hate the Hawks but that team is so good it is one of those things you tell your grandkids about being able to watch. Mind you I'm rooting for the Wings here but I am in awe of that Chicago club and it would almost be a crime for them not to win.

Nice! Yeah, I'm holding out hope for some extremely lucky bounces, but in all reality the series will be probably be 5 games. Neverless, it's going to be a lot of fun to watch, as long as none of the games are complete blowouts like that Easter Sunday 7-1 massacre. Besides that game in the regular season, all the other ones were decided by one goal. As long as Detroit doesn't make any glaring mistakes (which Chicago will surely make them pay for), there is a little hope for the Wings.

This will be Chicago's decade, just like the late 90s and most of the 00s were Detroits. They've earned it. They are really talented. But yeah, a Stanley Cup Finals with these two teams is what I'm most looking forward to with the move East!

Canucks fan here, despite the fact they can't seem to get their shit together in the playoffs since the finals a couple years ago.

Chicago/Detroit should be a very entertaining series and I'm looking forward to that match-up. Got to admit I have a soft spot for the Wings, but I think Chicago is going all the way. Too much great talent on that team to not at least make it to the finals.

And two series going to game 7. Oh man, I love game sevens.

Sorry about your Canucks this year. I really hate the Sharks with a passion! Funny thing, for the past 3 years the team that knocked Vancouver out went on to win the Cup.

Who doesn't love Zdeno Chara!?! That man is a BEAST! I wouldn't EVER want to block one of his shots. It'd take your head clean off! =D Whenever I build a team in the EA NHL games Chara is always my first pick.

Heh, in NHL video games I played, I had Mikael Renberg as best forward and Derren Puppa as goalie. :-)

To be serious, I expect the Wings-Chicago series to be one of most entertaining, but I think it will be really hard to play against Black Hawks this year. Whoever wins I would like to see in finals as Kings are my most hated team and I am not exactly fan of San Jose Sharks as well.
Pens-Senators could be entertaining as well. I hope Senators will play Bruins in conference finals.
