The biggest celebration of DRM-Free gaming this season is right now, right here on GOG.com! It's warm and nice outside, the summer draws ever closer, so let's make sure it's full of fantastic games. There's no one good way to spend your summer, but we know well that gaming can make every single one of them better. So, whether you plan to stay inside, hike into the wilderness, or take a boat into the calm sea, we'll make sure your laptop is filled with great DRM-Free games you can enjoy anytime, anywhere. To that end, we're holding our [url=http://www.gog.com]2014 DRM-Free Summer Sale!

Each day we'll present you with at least two special Bundle Deals with a selection of of great classics and indies available up to 90% off! As usual, you'll be able to buy just selected titles out of the bundle with a slightly lower discount, or complete your collection with just the ones you're missing, retaining the higher discount rate. Let's take a look at our offers for today, shall we?

Today, we seriously mix things up to bring you both lighthearted comedy as well as dark and morbid horror. The Legacy of Kain Saga is the Full House of gaming with its family themes and colorful presentation. Across four episodes ironically titled Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2, Blood Omen 2, and Defiance the series explores the relation between Kain, a authoritative father with obvious god complex, and Raziel, his rebellious son with questionable fashion sense. The story also includes many of their relatives from extended family, that cannot help but to make a mess in their imaginary homeland called Nosgoth. Hilarity ensues! All this cheerful moments for only $5.96 (that's 75% off!). The other of our offers today, is bound to chill the blood in your veins with its terrifying setting alone. The Deponia Complete Trilogy takes place on a distant planet. A planet, that long ago must have been not so different from our own Earth. Yet now, it is a grim and dark place that suffered a tragic environmental disaster. The surface of the planet is now completely covered with waste. Toxic rain flushes the pollution deep into the ground, poisoning it and making the land barren. Way above, there's the remaining enclave of civilization, housing the remnant of the human race. Now imagine one of them, a defenseless girl, falls down to the toxic junkyard below. Even though she doesn't die instantly poisoned with every imaginable toxin, her future looks grim. The wasteland is filled with danger, and soon she'll find out that she is not alone among the towering piles of garbage. What strange mutated monsters could have survived in such conditions? And what do they eat? The horror! All the thrills for just $11.97 (that's 80% off!). There you have it, a mix of laughter and cries of despair to fill your weekend with gripping gaming. Or did we overdo the mixing?

On top of that, almost all of our catalog has been discounted by up to 50%. On top of that, our front page is overflowing with excellent Flash Sales on single games. You can grab them up to 90% as well, but don't take to long, as they come and go pretty fast! Why don't you head out to GOG.com front page, and see what's happening right NOW!
Are there going to be any new games in the flash sales or just the same ones rotating over and over again?
I didn't want to buy a game during the sale, but then I bought Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and King's Bounty: Crossworlds GOTY.

Now my backlog is even bigger :D

ChrisSD: GOG does at least have Alpha Centauri which is Civilization II IN SPACE! Well ok there's more to it then that but still...

ActuallyCarrie: And thank God there are Empire Earth series here...I was unable to find them nowhere and was planning to buy them from Amazon.com at atrocious prices because I was helpless so my love and sincere kisses to GOG:D
Than you haven't looked hard enough apparently! :P

The Empire Earth games are also available at GamersGate, the first one is often on sale there for 1.25€:

Risen bundle... ultracheap... argh. I'm completely out of money, this sale destroyed my finances!
Unfortunately, I'm forced to ignore both this one and the tactical bundle... oh well, I'll pick them up this winter, if they will make another appearence.

I'm waiting for SWAT 3 to get on the flash deals, since I wanted to try it out.

And if you are one of the few that didn't get Alpha Centauri, now it's the time to do so.

HypersomniacLive: I don't use Steam, so I neither follow nor care about their sales/ sales models.

The success of GOG's Summer Sale is important as it translates into GOG being a desirable place to sell one's game, i.e. it gives GOG more leverage, i.e. better chances for GOG to grow. ;-)

ActuallyCarrie: I hope so!!! I am a huge fan of Civilization, X-Com Series and Europe Universalis but neither of them is available on the beloved GOG:( I had wet and juicy dreams that I would find Civilization I and II here but alas...
I wouldn't hold my breath for Europa Universalis or Crusader Kings titles. Especially since Paradox completely shut down non-Steam version of the latter and switched it to Steam. Former was always Steam-only to begin with. I have all of the above on Steam, except XCOM, but whenever I can buy something on GOG, I do that.

@Enebias I'm in exactly the same situation. GMG sale dented my finances good and GOG proceeded to kill them. :)

Europa Universails II is a fantastic fit for GoG, one of the best games I've ever played. I haven't checked the wishlist, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was requested.

Edit, of course the fine ladies and gentlemen of GoG have it wishlisted:

I hope GOG throws in some stuff to mix it up. While this sale is great for people who are just now coming on, or only following it sporadically, it's the doldrums for us regular sailors.

l0rdtr3k: Beyond Good and Evil is on flash sale.
What are you waiting for ? Go pick it up, it's one of the best games that I bought here on GOG.

haafie: Done. This better be good, unknown stranger.
Beyond Good and Evil is awesome, you won't regret it.

yup.. apart from the Interplay titles on my want list, I think I've now got every game I'm interested in.

Couldn't agree more. Keep waiting for something new to pop it's head up and all that happens is more of the same :(
Guess I need to go outside and yell at the kids to get off my lawn ;-)

Arrgh. And mighty pirates too!

will107777: is wing commander anything like tie, fighter x-wing games?

also, just wondering, any reported sightings of those free flash giveaways yet?
I played and enjoyed Wing Commander 4. But as a fan of the Xwing/TIE Fighter games, either Wing Commander was more difficult or I was just unable to learn a new system because I had to play it on easy since I never did figure out how to avoid missiles. On easy they don't even use missiles. I did enjoy the story aspects of Wing Commander 4.

...they have teased some mysterious flash freebie, which I suspect is intended to mix tings up a tad. Although I agree, it's also nice to see transparency that GOG is up front about every deal they have coming... they're not really playing a time pressure game or making it hard to budget because you know the deals straight out and that there will be continued opportunities to get the discount. Maybe it's less "fun" but it strikes me as a much more practical way to score good bargains on games without over the top marketing tactics (which I think have become too common place in today's world).

Edit: Also, boo on any attempt to emulate Steam's sale model too closely.

Never had a chance to play any of the wing commander series and I'm a little hesitant to purchase them. Are they newcomer friendly/enjoyable or more so for veterans that have previously played before, for a trip down nostalgia road?
