The biggest celebration of DRM-Free gaming this season is right now, right here on GOG.com! It's warm and nice outside, the summer draws ever closer, so let's make sure it's full of fantastic games. There's no one good way to spend your summer, but we know well that gaming can make every single one of them better. So, whether you plan to stay inside, hike into the wilderness, or take a boat into the calm sea, we'll make sure your laptop is filled with great DRM-Free games you can enjoy anytime, anywhere. To that end, we're holding our [url=http://www.gog.com]2014 DRM-Free Summer Sale!

Each day we'll present you with at least two special Bundle Deals with a selection of of great classics and indies available up to 90% off! As usual, you'll be able to buy just selected titles out of the bundle with a slightly lower discount, or complete your collection with just the ones you're missing, retaining the higher discount rate. Let's take a look at our offers for today, shall we?

Today, we seriously mix things up to bring you both lighthearted comedy as well as dark and morbid horror. The Legacy of Kain Saga is the Full House of gaming with its family themes and colorful presentation. Across four episodes ironically titled Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2, Blood Omen 2, and Defiance the series explores the relation between Kain, a authoritative father with obvious god complex, and Raziel, his rebellious son with questionable fashion sense. The story also includes many of their relatives from extended family, that cannot help but to make a mess in their imaginary homeland called Nosgoth. Hilarity ensues! All this cheerful moments for only $5.96 (that's 75% off!). The other of our offers today, is bound to chill the blood in your veins with its terrifying setting alone. The Deponia Complete Trilogy takes place on a distant planet. A planet, that long ago must have been not so different from our own Earth. Yet now, it is a grim and dark place that suffered a tragic environmental disaster. The surface of the planet is now completely covered with waste. Toxic rain flushes the pollution deep into the ground, poisoning it and making the land barren. Way above, there's the remaining enclave of civilization, housing the remnant of the human race. Now imagine one of them, a defenseless girl, falls down to the toxic junkyard below. Even though she doesn't die instantly poisoned with every imaginable toxin, her future looks grim. The wasteland is filled with danger, and soon she'll find out that she is not alone among the towering piles of garbage. What strange mutated monsters could have survived in such conditions? And what do they eat? The horror! All the thrills for just $11.97 (that's 80% off!). There you have it, a mix of laughter and cries of despair to fill your weekend with gripping gaming. Or did we overdo the mixing?

On top of that, almost all of our catalog has been discounted by up to 50%. On top of that, our front page is overflowing with excellent Flash Sales on single games. You can grab them up to 90% as well, but don't take to long, as they come and go pretty fast! Why don't you head out to GOG.com front page, and see what's happening right NOW!

skeletonbow: I'm going to assume you will neither confirm nor deny it (and rightfully so), but I'm going to read between the lines of that and speculate that June 29th will be the day you hint at, and that it will be an all-bundles final encore day that also includes a repeat of the mega-flash deals as on the 1st day of the sale and June 18th, with 30 simultaneous flash items at once, and with the addition of some freebies thrown into the flash promo. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that Banished, Omerta and the other games JMich predicted for the flash promos that haven't showed up yet will be some of the freebies offered, and that GOG will have the special game trivia contest thingie on the same day.

<grin>

Either way, I'm sure whatever you guys have planned will be a bit of fun though, whether it is all on one day or spread across several. Hopefully one of the surprises is the announcement of the pending release of LucasArts Star Wars games to the GOGalogue! ;oP

I'm picturing you now muttering to yourself things that Shultz from Hogan's Heroes might say... heheehe

This is definitely my favourite GOG promo so far though personally, good job guys!
I know NOTHING! NOTHING!

It is good to know that I am NOT crazy and that others hear this in their heads when it is appropriate! When I actually verbalize this everyone looks at me like I've lost my mind and when trying to explain, no one knows what I am talking about. Thank you! Thank you very much!

Cifer29: Damn it so I guess it really was just my imagination :(. Oh well maybe it still will come if not well I guess I just have to shell out the 3 $ more for it.
Or you could just set up a notification on isthereanydeal.com and get notified when it comes on sale below a given price unless you're in a hurry for it of course. :) A while back I was impatient for the Syberia games and Still Life games to come on sale and they showed up all in a bundle somewhere for Steam so I grabbed it. I kind of feel a bit dirty now for not waiting it out though as I've only completed one of the 4 games and played 2 of them to date (Still Life 1&2) and haven't touched the Syberia titles yet at all. :) In an effort to both console myself and make amends though I've committed myself to waiting to buy Post Mortem on GOG when it goes on sale for $2.49 or less in the future instead of taking advantage of the zillions of Steam deals on that one. :)

I am positively giddy in a catholic-schoolgirlish way with my purchases throughout the sale, specially my very first, the Sam and Max Bundle.

The addictiveness is terrifying. You know how some people grab a cigarette first thing after waking up? I reach for my phone and check the gog flash sales. And that was how I was able to nab the witcher 2, and a couple more I'd been on the hunt for.

There's something rewarding out of getting so much value out of a deal, almost erotic in a way. Which proves that the wallet is an erogenous zone.

Rakuru: Here's a spreadsheet with all of games going on flash sales in alphabetical order and how many times each has been on sale. I was pretty sure it was complete, but I wasn't around the very first day of the sale so I can't personally speak to that.
avatar
RWarehall: It's complete. Taken from IAmSinistar's lists with generous abuse of Pidgeot's script/ I do update it by hand, but no one has pointed out any mistakes yet.

Defender's Quest with only 3 appearances is the lonely one.
Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri™ has a stellar 8 appearances (the most)
I actually saw an error in the spreadsheet; VVVVVV is going for $0.99 in the flash sales, not $1.99 (I picked it up for that reason); I've seen it come through a few different times at that lower price. I couldn't tell who was maintaining it, so I didn't know who to notify.
I drink two glasses of water at bedtime to guarantee at least one middle of the night pee break / sale check.

Thanks! Fixed.
Has anybody played Consortium? Is there any love for it? It has been rotating so heavily, and I am starting to imagine that God wants me to buy it, it is a sign ^-^. Even in its flashdeal form it is five bucks, though.

ActuallyCarrie: The number of items rotating in flashdeals must be getting less and less because Memoraia has appeared as "coming soon" as soon as it disappeared from the deal page. So maybe we are getting close to a sparkling new offer?

skeletonbow: Not really, on the first day Octodad showed up twice at the same time. We don't know the algorithm they're using for randomness but if I were to hazard a guess based on observation it appears that they may have taken the list of all games, randomized it then they go through it and when it is passed through, they repeat that process a second time, third time, etc. re-randomizing the all-games list. If they do this, then where the boundaries exist near the end of one pass through the sale to the start of the second pass through the sale there will be a 15 game window between the two randomly generated lists where the same game may appear as one of the last 15 games from random-list-N, and also as one of the first 15 games from random-list-N+1. The anomaly would exist in this case due to the 15-game window where two runs of random games would be showing games from each individual randomly generated list simultaneously.

In order to prevent that algorithmically, the code generating the new random game list (N) would have to examine prior game list (N-1) and if any of the randomly picked titles for the new list match one of the last 15 from the N-1 list, ignore it and regenerate a new random entry. Even if they did that however, you could end up with one game going off the sale and rotating back onto the sale after 1/2/3 sale bumps.

The only way to really space out game repeats without having them have random chance of showing up close together is to generate the randomized list of games once, then just reuse that list over and over. That way every game would reappear in the sale exactly the same amount of time inbetween repeats, but then after one pass through the sale the remaining passes would be totally predictable and no longer random. It is the inherent randomness of the sale itself that makes it mathematically possible for a single game to show up twice in succession in that 15 game window in between two consecutive passes through the random loop.

This is all purely my own speculation of how their random game lists might be generated of course based on observation of what we've seen so far. I'd have to look a bit more closely to confirm it with the public list of the order games have appeared in the flash sale so far but I think I'm probably close. One flaw in my assumptions of their algorithm however is that in one pass through the game list, each game would appear once and no game would go missing from a cycle, but we have observed some games show up as few as 3 times and some others as many as 6 or 7. It's possible that some games have showed up in the sale and met pre-negotiated quotas and hit their limits and were removed from the rotation. Another possibility is that the randomness isnt purely random but is weighted based on negotiated limits on unit sales for individual games, or even day to day limits on appearances.

A bit of fun to speculate on and to analyze the data to try to estimate how the algorithm works though. :)

j0ekerr: Why stop there, let's make it the bridge of the entreprise, or Mazinger's Pilder, or an EVA's entry plug, or anything really, let's make it customizable and then I can have my own Star Destroyer or Imperium Battle Barge and everytime I load a game I shoot a pesky planet out of space.

skeletonbow: Oh definitely, themable/moddable starship interfaces are a must Lord Vader! :)
Well thank you for this detailed analysis and answer:) I think I am getting a little bit impatient,,,Actually I am looking forward to the end of this sale because as someone said above, it is very addicting and it slightly detracts you from your daily routine, lol:)

I got everything I wanted and a lot of whimsical stuff also from the bundles/flash so far, so I'm pretty much just coasting on the sale now waiting for expected/anticipated and even unexpected goodies to hopefully show up so I know what you mean. :) Modulo having a daily routine anyway hehe.

Going to try to log some hours in XCOM and Original Sin today though because I promised myself I'd be more productive today. ;oP
Here's what my GOG collection currently looks like :)

Will also get Trine 1 and Shadowrun Return's DLC Dragonfall before the summer sale ends (flash or no flash sale). ;o

Was that fast enough?

Thanks for Omerta! Always wanted to try it out but was unsure due to the reviews... what a chance now :-)
Thanks for Omerta!
So I guess the second flash giveaway will also take place at 8:00am when the bundle sales begin?
Awesome, looks like the missing flash sale games are indeed planned freebies! Do you know what this means?
