Does anyone else likes playing a short game before going to work/school/shortly after waking up? I find myself doing it from time to time, especially when I haven't slept enough. I don't drink coffee or smoke, so a short adrenaline rush from the game makes me "sharp" for the upcoming hours.

If you do, what games do you prefer? I believe RPGs are not a very good idea in such cases. I usually play some racing game or a fast paced shooter, such as Quake Live.
I don't really do it myself, but if I did, I think a few rounds of Death Rally would do the trick.
Man, I am a zombie when I wake up. If I manage to turn on the computer, I am proud of myself.
I always have Doom installed for such an occasion. :)
I like to have a game available in the mornings while I am waiting for the missus to get out of the bathroom. Currently it is Ultima Underworld. Man I am enjoying that game.

Edit: and welcome to gog!

To echo what Wishbone said, I never did that when I lived on a clock, but when you mention it I can certainly see how a nice quick game could send you off on the morning with a little jump in your step. Of course with handhelds and the like do you really have to stop playing!? Seen the commercial with the guy who plays COD (I think it's COD) during his entire commute to work? Nuff said. :)
Yeah a quick shooter level can be a fun pick-me-up between errands and whatnot.

A good nostalgia trip with an old game from my youth is good when I'm feeling down, as well.
I do it often, yes. I sometimes do play something engrossing, such as an RPG, and then I don't actually "go" to work until I start hearing skype beeping for attention. This is a reason why I've started playing less RPGs.

I usually don't have time for side activities in the morning, barely manage to get to work without being late.

Well, I don't usually play anything before I leave the house, but I do play on my daily commute. I spend 40 minutes on a train each way each day, so I might as well play something. At the moment I'm playing Bard's Tale. I also often solve sudokus.
