I have created a petition to EA to make Battlefield 1942 either free to
play or available to buy via digital download. The game is a classic
that few can experience because of the current situation.

Be sure to reply to this, let's keep this thread alive and the petition going!
I was referred here from the moddb community. I hope nobody is bugged by this topic.
I can't see why this thread would bother anyone. I didn't even know anyone still played BF1942. I bought the game when it came out (before I was too savvy about online gaming) and only ever played single player. I can tell it would be fun online though. I'm going to dig out my disk now and see if I can get the game to run and find some servers to play on. Do you have any recommendations for servers/mods? If you know of a good community/mod/server, I'm down to try to join in on the fun.
Well the most active mods would be Desert Combat (DC), Forgotten Hope (FH), and Battlefield 1918 (BF1918). The most active server that I know of is the pixel-fighter server for FH but you need to also download a special update toolbox for that (it really helps out though).

Generally most servers have events to boots player numbers during certain days.

Also feel free to join a tournament like Forgotten Honor.

Each of those mods adds a ton of new stuff and have singleplayer support too.
I'll give this thread a bump, I wouldn't mind seeing the game made available. It looks like a fun game :)
Ah petitions, they remind me of Calvin and Hobbes....

Btw Galactic Conquest is the best BF1942 mod ever. Fact.
Wonderful game. I don't think it's been equaled yet.
I have my disc so...I'll sign.

Actually, I hadn't. Thanks, man. I quite enjoyed those. :)
I am the appdb maintainer on winehq.org, seems that this would benefit everyone out there. It's amazing how the community still pumps along.

Signed.
