Hello. Sorry if this is the wrong section of the forum to post this.

So I've purchased Wing Commander I+II and Ultima VII and I having trouble getting them all to run at a playable speed.

In Wing Commander I+II the mouse is really slow when outside of battle; when your talking to people and going to the hanger etc... but it is WAAAAAAY to sensitive when flying. Pretty much unplayable for me because you have to be extremely subtle with your hand over wise you turn to tight and lose the enemy.

In Ultima VII everything is way to fast; my character travels like 60mph and zips straight past everything if my mouse cursor is about 1cm away from him when I'm moving. Also NPC's move to fast I have a hard time clicking on them.

I can't adjust the cycles in game because of my keyboard. I need to use the "fn" key to be able to use F11 and F12 (otherwise they just adjust the volume) but I guess this causes a problem with having to press ctrl as well because isn't not working. fn+ctrl+F11/12 isn't affect my games speed whatsoever.

So exactly how to I change the cycles in the .conf file? I've gone into Contents > Resources > Configurations and tried changing the cycles from auto to something else (I've tried low and high like cycles=2000 or cycles=14000) in both Preflight.conf and "game name".conf but it doesn't have any effect on the game.

What am I doing wrong? Please help I would love to enjoy these old classics.

I cannot confirm that this works, but I had a quick look in the forums and;
This is from Wing Commander Privateer, they were having mouse issues.

EDIT:::
I had a look through the Ultima forums too, and I saw these which might prove useful. Again I cannot vouch myself if this works, as the Ultima series is awaiting installation after a large backlog here.

If you ever want to look directly into a particular games forums just open the games download page and at the bottom you will find a link reading "forums" (see the image attached). You can use that to see if others have already brought up an issue without having to trawl through hundreds of pages in the main forums. Even at its best the search function on GOG can be a little erratic.

just a totally off idea but depending on your mouse its software (if it has any) may allow you to set different settings which are 'applied' when the software detects you are in game. or usually the best bet is to set something like "disable every modification to mouse in game" allowing the game to take the raw unaltered mouse data.
just a quick idea?

GOG uses the Boxer DOSBox frontend on Mac OS X which has different keyboard shortcuts (the normal DOSBox ones don't work).

Boxer's DOSBox settings are stored in DOSBox Preferences.conf inside a .boxer package with the game's name inside the main game package (Show Package Contents on the .boxer package just like the main game). This only affects that particular game so repeat as needed. See their guide for details.
