nmillar: What sound issues? I bought this from Games for Windows Live during their launch sale and it runs perfectly on Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.
These ones:

Some people get no sound at all, others (like me) get a constant scratchy white noise.

Weird. Mine worked straight away. No tweaking at all.

Which versions does this apply to? (retail disk, dd (GFWL, Steam etc))

Bought it on steam and it ran without issue on Win 7 x64 Pro.

StingingVelvet: It works fine on modern OSes. Most games do actually, not sure why you assumed otherwise. It's a very rare game that does not work on a modern PC.

Anyway, it's an EA title. When EA come to GOG I am sure it will be on the list. Also I would bet my ass they release it on Steam when the sequel goes out.

Raven28256: I've encountered a number of games that don't run right on modern OSs. For example, I still can't get the retail version of Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition to run right on Vista, which is why I'll be getting the GoG version at some point. I browsed the official site and got every patch I could find. I can play the retail version, it is just really unstable. Some of the MechWarrior games are also iffy on Vista, and I'm pretty sure that I had a lot of trouble getting System Shock 2 to run when I tried to play it again, but that was a while back.

In my experience, trying to run older games (As in 10+ years old) has been rather hit or miss.
A bit odd, ive been running Diamond Edition on Vista for about 4 years with no problems. Had to do a few tweaks, messing around with .ini files and disabling the startup movies but havent had a hiccup since.

Lucibel: Just a heads up, I am selling a copy of Alice on eBay, along with some others. I've tried to make it reasonably priced. It works fine on Vista 64 bit:
Perhaps you should ship your items worldwide (or at least to the rest of Europe) if you want to sell anything (especially here, where everyone seem to be of different nationality).
I still have my copy of Alice and I'll never give it up. It's nice to know it works on Win7, I might have to load it up for old times sake.
wow i remember having played the demo of this game it was in pc quest magazine cd long time back, very nice game but did it do well in the market?

Does reposting the exact same thing you posted before, adding one sentence chiding people/justifying yourself, and quoting a GOG forum admin actually seem like furthering the discussion to you? You already posted that, anyone who wanted to read it read it and it didn't garner any response. Wtf is the point of posting the same damned thing again?

deathkitten: Because you downvote it to hide it, on a site about good old games - it doesn't help anything, just encourages me to repost it, so people should stop trying to be anonymous dicks and failing :p And actually use the site for what it is meant to be for :p
The site is used as a store front for GOG. The forum is used for discussions, which may or may not be game related, there are no actual rules for what topics are suitable for general discussion. Which is why it is called general.

The staff of GOG are very well aware that people want these games, through both the wishlist, and the official unofficial "this game belongs on GOG" thread - and the staff have several times said they have been following both of these. However, it is also been said several times how they are not able to follow all the forum posts (which is why the "C**** C***** C****"" thread survived for so long) so if you want to influence staff, your approach may not be very efficient...
The best chance to play American McGee's Alice is to buy Madness Returns. It's a 2 in 1 pack.Anyway,it's one of the best game ever made, and you definetly gotta play it. :)

AFAIK it is only some console versions which have both. I do not know any PC versions (except pre-order, when it was possible?) where you can get both.

That's only true for console versions. On the PC, the remaster was only available to those who preordered on Origin. :(

Fine I won't be anonymous I both down-rated you and reported you for Spam because that's what it is.

Trollette, you realize people can disable the 'hide posts with negative rating' ? Makes your drama queen act a wee bit superfluous.

And if certain posts have been down rated then it's not beyond the realms of possibility that any reposts may suffer the same fate.

Repetitive Posts amounting to 'I want this game now !' littered with innumerable craptastic links are what the site is all about, sure enough.
So I started reading page 1 and it suddenly clocked - hold on a tick, it's yet another deathkitten necro spam thread. I'm starting to get the pattern here!
