I bought the Groupees Be Mine 9 Bundle. I installed the DRM-free version of Ittle Dew.
Before I even started to play it I thought "Oh heck, I've got a Steam code, why not play it on Steam..." I forsook the DRM-free goodness and I was going to be punished for it.

I looked for a way to de-install Ittle Dew. I couldn't find a de-installer. I looked in the list of installed programs but it wasn't there. So I did it the messy way and just deleted the folder and stuff.
I then forgot to run a regcleaner.
I started the Steam installation. Game was installed but the icon remained blank. I started the game anyway, looked at the short intro and tried to get into the game. It stopped responding on the loading screen.
Everything I did afterwards (de-installing, using CCleaner, rebooting...) didn't change anything. I cannot get Ittle Dew to work with Steam.
Now I'm sad and feel dirty by my betrayal of the DRM-free revolution. :-(
And I decided to whine about it here.

Does the DRM free version still work if you reinstall it?
Doesn't work either.
I wish I had at least tried if it had worked when I installed it first.

There seem to be some rests of the program somewhere because I just installed the DRM-free version and it "remembered" that I have last started in windowed mode.

A lot of games nowadays don't store their settings and/or savegame in the game's folder but in My Documents or even more often in the hidden AppData folder. To access it, you could do the following (I'm going to use the German names, instead of translating them, so you can find them more easily - apologies to all English speakers):

1. Open the Windows Explorer.
2. From the menu select Extras, Ordneroptionen, Ansicht, then scroll down the list and make sure "Versteckte Dateien und Ordner: Alle Dateien und Ordner anzeigen" is checked and press OK.
3. Now you can find the AppData folder, probably at the path "C:\Benutzer\[Benutzername]\AppData".
4. Check its subfolders, e.g. Local or Roaming and see if there's one called Ittle Dew in there - if so that's the hidden memory of your deleted game. You can try and delete it for a clean new start. I don't know if that will be enough to make it run again (if it ever worked before), but this way I it won't remember your old settings.

EDIT: Hm, I just realized, there's a possibility that the "remembered" data isn't stored on your computer at all but in the Steam cloud. Then again, if that's the case, the DRM-free version shouldn't be able to access it, so it might be worth to check AppData in any case.

Did you uninstall Steam? If not, you should. Then install little Dew.

Thank you! :-D
Nothing there but I found some stuff in the registry, deleted it by hand and the next installation of the game didn't "remember" a thing. But didn't work either.
*sigh*
At least I found one other person online now that has the same problem. But no solution so far.
I hope you called the police and got a rape-kit done before taking a shower

I'm a little afraid to do that because I use Steam for Blood Bowl (I'm in the GOG Blood Bowl League) and I fear that I break stuff when de-installing and maybe later re-installing. :-(

Of course not. I'm not that reasonable.

That is too bad because it sounds like Steam needs to be removed from your computer and then reinstalled. If Blood Bowl works with Steam Cloud, your Blood Bowl saves will be safe, no matter what.

Hmm... I nearly exclusively play BB online so I guess I have nothing to loose... The team should be saved on a server, I think...
On the other hand, how should reinstalling Steam help you with running the DRM-free version? :/

She is having a problem with Steam, not ORIGIN.
I think I'll go and do some shopping now.
Maybe after a walk on the fresh air I'll have a better idea of what to do. And I'll also have groceries.
Have you tried turning it off and on agai...

Oh, sorry. I see there appears to be an actual problem.

edit: Does the other person you found have the same problem concerning de- and reinstalling, or simply the same problem of the game not working?
