any fans here of these products from Japan? If yes what do you read/watch?
I am big fan of One Piece anime. It is funny, interesting and simply awesome.
there's only a select few items that I enjoy.
mostly just Akira and Devil Man.
Most of what I've seen sucks but the occasional one manages to hit the ideal combination of explosions, giant robots & hot cartoon ladies.
The various Macross shows are the only ones I definitely watch, they pretty much have everything I like.
Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex, from whence comes my avatar. A great cyberpunk series. Well, aside from Major Kusanagi's bizarre aversion to wearing pants... o_O
Also Robotech and Macross. It's fun to play the "See what got edited out to make Robotech more kid-friendly" game. Like all the gratuitous close-ups of Minmay's butt...
I've never met another person like me: Utterly fascinated and in love with Japanese culture, but loathes, and I mean loathes! anime/manga.

I have a bunch of Anime (Akira, Ghost-in-the-Shell-1&2, a couple of others I can't see from my desk) DVDs.
I would have more, and expore a few series, if they were not so darn expensive here. So, I'm not up to date on what is out and what is good as I would like, unless I borrow a friends DVD collection. Plus, I want the releases closer to the originals, not the 'nerfed for kids' versions.
I'll just list some series I've watched/read over the years. Bleach, Code Geass, Ergo Proxy, Hellsing, Death Note, Gundam (too many series to name), Eyeshield 21, Lucky Star, Ghost in the Shell, Trigun, DBZ, Elfen Lied, Blood+, everything by Miyazaki, and probably some other stuff.

I don't really get into the Anime/Manga thing, but I do play Bleach on my PSP.
Yep, manga/anime/hentai/anything fan there :) but too lazy to look for it, so I watch only what gets in my claws occasionaly.
I like the Ghost in the Shell series, specially the first one(the Laughing man). Lately i have also been watching Seirei no Moribito(Guardian of the Sacred spirit), which is set in feudal Japan, with a fantasy theme, and it has become one of my favourites.
Monster & Akira.
I also like Kenshin, Blame!, Dragon Head, Berserk (the first half), Adolf or Noritaka... among many other mangas I have.
For anime, I go with Ghibli movies: all of them.

Azumanga Daioh! The best one! :D
Also Cowboy Bebop, Studio Ghibli productions (Princess Mononoke, Tales from Earthsea, Howl's Moving Castle and others), GITS - movies and Stand Alone Complex, SAC2 sux a bit... And that would be my favorites.
I hate all that never-ending, lame animes like bleach, naruto, etc.

My girlfriend made my watch Azumanga... and I'm glad she do. Is the cutest and most enjoyable anime I've ever watch!
Also, as you say, I don't like these never-ending animes like bleach or naruto.
Anime is way too expensive to bother with. 6000 or so yen for a 25 minute DVD? **** off. As such, I no longer bother with much anime. Although I am partial to renting a few things such as Mai Hime and Genshiken.
I also don't read much manga these days, but still tend to collect Yotsuba to !, School Rumble (when I can be bothered seeing as it's gone down hill), and Nagasarete Airandou. I also have complete collections of GTO and Genshiken which get a read every now and then. But I prefer collecting Ico based doujinshi (and no, none of it is porn).
I tend not to bother with English translations any more, consider the last few I've read have been riddled with mistakes that even a first year student of the language shouldn't be making.
Oh and as far as movies go, Sky Crawlers and Toki wo kakeru shojou are damned good. And if you get the chance, it's also worth watching the rather strange original live action movie of Toki wo kakeru shojou too. It's very very strange.
