I have the base game. I thought some of that DLC was pointless - in terms of things you could do or get done during the course of the game - install DLC and you have stuff you could have just earned in the game. IMHO Deep Ocean is the only part of the package which is worth getting

What about DRM?

Lifthrasil: What about DRM?
That's what I was about to ask too.

The base game has one of the worst DRMs possible.
No news on DRM? Not interested.
I'm still waiting for Settlers 7 complete, but it'll probably be on GOG before Ubi does anything themselves.
The DRM seems to have been patched to UPLAY instead of the old 3 machine limit (however this could just be the fact they added a key reclaim every 15 days shortly before the change to the new UPlay happened)
Well...sounds interesting for someone like me who never played any ANNO nor does own any ANNO, but why do developers insist on this scheme? They release a game, then they release tons of DLCs for it, THEN they offer package with the base game, plus all DLCs and even some exclusive content. For those loyal to the company, those who buy the game on day 1 of the release...thats really assholish move. I mean sure, this is business, not kindergarten you have to do foul moves like this to get most money out of your clients...but still...why not at least offer some discounts, maybe even bonuses for those who were loyal in the first place?

/rant over

Looking forward to it
So, has anyone bought this thing? Is DRM just uplay online activation?

Yes and no, Like HOMM6 (or MMH6 if you prefer), Anno has some online-only "features": You can play off-line, but if you do some single player features will be locked down.
