sorry for you loss and the situation you are going through for those stupid bastard scammers
Oh, man..:(

*hugs*
Hey Xyem

Sorry to hear about Anubis, he looked like a lovely cat and from what I just read it was more than a look. I hope the fraud team you passed the details on to are able to stop this, Animal fraud is becoming more and more common unfortunately. I have a friend who breeds and shows German Shepards and on more than 1 occasion she has had a knock at the door with someone looking to "collect the dog they bought". It really is sad what people will do in this day and age, My car lives in the garage so if I get any leaks I tend to see them when I close or open the door, as much as I hate to admit it I do use anti freeze in the screen wash.
Geez, so sorry to hear about Anubis :(. As a big time animal lover, and having had, and lost quite a few pets, I feel your pain. Hope the New Year brings you some happiness and a new friend. Happy Holidays to you, and best wishes....
What a terrible story. It reminds me of when my own can passed away a couple of years back. She died of kidney failure and it also was not quick and painless. It still hurts to think about it. I've had pets before (dogs included), but no other animal has been as important as she was. I don't think a lot of people can't understand how much you can connect with an animal unless they've been there. I think I know how you feel, Xyem. I can imagine what it was like to see your photo on that scammer's website. Just makes me angry to think about it. I remember I wrote some articles and drew pictures to help prospective kitten buyers and I felt sick in my guts when one backyard breeder stole them to his site to advertise his "operation". What the scammers did to you is even worse.

Our other can got so lonely and unhappy when she died that we decided to have another cat to keep him company. We now have a one-year-old Burmilla boy, Yuki. Nothing can replace my old girl, but I'm glad I got to know this nutjob who wants to sleep on my face and yodles at the sight of fish.

When we decided on a breed, we contacted the breed club president who referred us to a reputable breeder. I ran a website for a cat breed for many years and I know there are some people breeding who shouldn't own anything that's living. I also recommend you get in touch with a breed club to help you. Good for you to take action against those scammers, I hope they'll get what they deserve.

Don't hesitate to PM me if you'd like some assistance. I don't unfortunately know any Egyptian Mau breeders but I've adviced some kitten buyers before on how to spot bad breeders. You can also contact me if you just want to chat and have a willing ear of someone who knows how you feel.

TVs_Frank: Sorry to hear that, dude. And Licurg, pet scamming is pretty common. The guy is probably using Xyem's pics to seem more legit as the pictures will be less likely to be on the internet already.

Licurg: It is? I never heard of it before :/
Sadly, it is :(
Sad to hear about your loss although glad you were able to decipher the scammers before they ran off with your money. Very sad indeed.

Although I am not fond of cats myself although more on the fact my wife is allergic to them=(, taking a glance at the picture you linked, Anubis was a beautiful cat.

I hope you are able to find two more cherished kittens to bring into your home in the near future as I am sure they will be lucky to have an owner like yourself.
this is horrible how low can anyone go :(

hope you find a good one again xyem

cant ask you to post more pics , i fear they would be misused as well :\ horrible times

Man, that's low, Xyem. Sorry to hear about poor Anubis. He was a handsome cat. I hope your Christmas gets better and that you find another cat or cats to join your family. And here's hoping those scammers get what they deserve.
Sorry for your loss Xyem and kudos for you posting with all this information. I hope they are 'brought to book'

Best wishes to you and your family
aw hell xyem mate - I really feel for you, having just lost my cat recently. The memories and pictures of Taz, for me help me celebrate his life everytime I think of him. You will, in time find this place as well. Know we are here for you, if you want to talk etc

take care please, Ian
A quick update as I know at least one person is interested..

We got two cats on December 23rd, brother and sister Bengals. They are called Diego and Phoebe.

Diego is very teeth and claw happy (so many scratches), bold, adventurous and most certainly a lap cat when he has run out of energy. Latest installment of excitement with him is when he jumped from the cat tree onto the paper lampshade on the ceiling and tore it down (just the lampshade and no injuries incurred, luckily).

Phoebe is far more cautious, but gains confidence pretty quickly. Unfortunately, we had a mishap where she ran under my foot as I was making my way down the hallway and I accidentally stood on her rear paw, breaking some bones! :( She's got about 5 weeks of healing to do. She also pulled the stitches from her spaying out the day after, but that is healing up fine (since she removed the stitches, she has left the area alone completely).

They both settled in really quickly (probably owing to them having each other around) and started sleeping on the bed with us on the second night! We had an issue with Phoebe peeing on our bed randomly every 3-4 days but this seems to have been resolved.

While they do serve as a reminder of what has been lost (my girlfriend is lucky in this regard as they took to her really quickly), I don't regret getting them at all. It's so nice to have cats around again and I look forward to forging a close friendship with them.
