Yes and no. I have a huge game collection and I entertain myself with playing all those games, whenever I feel like it. I also have a moderate ambition to see the ending of certain titles, but I'm not sure whether I actually have a backlog in the sense of "games I absolutely have to finish before my life is over". I mean I love games, but I when look at it from this perspective, most games seem pretty meaningless to me. I enjoy them as a pastime, even as a passion, but I try not to let any sense of "duty" interfere with my fun. When a game stops being fun and the story isn't all that special (and most games' stories aren't), I'd rather not waste my time on it just because someone else said it's a must-play.
I have built up a huge backlog and am slowely getting through them a lot ill robably play for an hour or so then go not for me and move onto next game.
Not gonna count but it's quite high.

Thing is though, if I cut it down to "genres I actually care about" and "not ancient" the list becomes pretty manageable. I just need to focus on that and stop buying games I don't really want because they're cheap. I've been doing much better the last year or so.
I have reduced my backlog this year from about 80 to 40. I did this by cutting down on the games I bought for myself and by focusing on finishing those games that I enjoyed, but hadn't gotten round to finishing. I have also removed and deleted a few games which I didn't enjoy and had no interest in playing ever again. No point in keeping those in my backlog imo.
I'm not gonna do detailed statistics about my backlog, but lets do a very informal analysis.

On GOG (which is the extent of my digital game collection):

Each shelf is 5 games.

On average, there are 2 games per shelf that I consider I played enough of and 2 more that I played some (even if it's just for 30 minutes to an hour right after I got the game) and intend to revisit at some point later.

I have many many shelves.
