I read that Saints Row 4 was not getting a release in Australia, seems like a very prudish country to me when I read why it wasnt getting a release. I think I would hate to be a gamer in Australia or Germany, I have a mate in germany who has to get his games from another mate in Holland because of german censorship. Not sure how it works with Steam games though, that might cause a problem for him, probably would cause issues with Australian gamers too I guess.

Coming from a country that used to have quite draconian censorship, I would hate to go back to the way things were because the wrong type of censorship can stifle so may things, art, literature, social mores etc.

Not the country, just the people on the Classification Board and (some) in government.

I actually jump on the ferry for a day trip out and get my games from Denmark. Quicker than driving all the way to Holland from my end of the country.

Unfortunately, Steam has caused many problems in that regard, as some games refuse to activate with a German IP. I skirt around this by taking my laptop with me to Denmark or the UK and activating them there. I don't trust VPNs.

Australia really isn't a prudish country at all, it's just that our politicians live in a different reality than the rest of us.

^this.

Thankfully the more enlightened of us are also tech savvy and have been bypassing this little annoyance for years.

In other news, yay Rudd!
I don't care anymore because I don't believe this will be fixed. Period

Politicians and media are completely out of touch with gamers and until it affects me buying digitally or importing from overseas I don't give a flying fuck

Just reading about this makes me so mad
Yet another great thing about living in Romania - We have no kind of game classification at all(or if we do, nobody ever bothered enforcing it), you can buy whatever you want, whenever you want. Same goes for movies, books, music, etc :D
