I was just wondering about this. What DOS game had the best real time rendered graphic? It chould be interesting to see how much those old school computers could handle..

I've always like the graphics of Loom, thought they did pretty good with the technology they had.

Crusader: No Remorse and No Regret had awesome graphics...

Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard, 3DFX mode. One of the best looking games of the 1990's, let alone DOS.

Aside from the blocky sprites, Syndicate Wars was pretty polished.
As was Theme Hospital.
Constructor was one of the most recent DOS games I can remember.

I quite liked Settlers 2 myself. Duke 3D was pretty good.

Death Rally just popped up in my mind. It has AWESOME graphics. Probably one of the funniest top down racers ever!

Absolutely. Really top notch at the time.
Right after Doom, a game came out called Heretic. Its sequels were renamed Hexen and were in 3D instead of sprite-based, but had a much duller, narrower color palette. Heretic, though, was a very colorful, cool looking world, and I had a lot of fun in it.
Was the first Diablo a DOS game? I forget. But the graphics on that definitely blew me away at the time.
I liked the general look and feel of Syndicate and its sequel a lot, but the sprites were extremely blocky.

Death Rally is my favourite racing game ever. If only they'd "special edition" it like LucasArts did Monkey Island. Keep the game exactly as it is, only update the graphics and sounds.
That aside, I followed the link to the official page, and noticed this:

There's no date on that, but I can only assume it's ancient. Has anybody ever heard of Happy Puppy? I haven't.

No, Diablo was, and still is, a Windows game.

Chasm: The Rift was a pretty awesome game, and must be one of the last DOS games, from 97. It looked and played a lot like the original quake.

Hexen was actually also built on the Doom engine. Hexen 2 is where it made the transition to 3D.

I used to use Happy Puppy all the time. It was a long time ago though.
