tinyE: Can someone help clear something up for me, does Diablo 3 actually suck?
From the little that I played of it ages ago (the beta), it seemed like it could be fun. Not sure if it remains fun for the entire length of the game though.
I'm not sure if the full release was as bad but one nasty downside of the constant connection was lag in single-player. Ugh.

I've heard that the recent patch(es) and expansion pack improved the game significantly (mostly thanks to removing the real money auction house and improving loot drops, I think).

-----

I'm playing through Diablo 2 + LoD now - still fun, though it lacks some of the nice features implemented in more recent aRPGs like Titan Quest, Torchlight 2, Grim Dawn, etc.

tinyE: Can someone help clear something up for me, does Diablo 3 actually suck? I've been playing a lot of D2 recently and when I hear about the changes in #3 it sounds like a mess which would lead me to think that all the DRM wouldn't matter because it's all for a shit game, but I keep hearing from people that would love to play it but for the DRM. Yes I realize I am asking for very subjective answers here. :D
Hi,

I've already spent way too much time on Diablo 3 and my humble opinion is that the game is far from being as bad as you can read here or there.

The loot was really bad thanks to the Auction House but this has been fixed with the patch 2.0 and the new "Adventure" mode combined with the improved crafting are great additions.

The only domain where I still prefer Diablo 2 is the level design. Diablo 3 is a little bit too generic for my taste but it's just a minor gripe because this is all about loot anyway (and, come on, how can you not love a game allowing you to explode unicorns, flowers and pink teddy bears?).
I've played The Lost Vikings a couple of hours today, and I'm really liking it. I remember that a friend of mine had this game on SNES when we were kids, but I only saw him play the game like once though. The game stuck to me nevertheless, and it's great to be able to play this myself now. Nice music, likeable characters, fun levels, and zero cost: what's not to like?

I didn't use to think much of the company, mainly because I don't care about their modern titles at all but this move really made me appreciate them a little bit.

Crosmando: Heh, I wonder how they managed to put Rock n' Roll Racing up, wouldn't they need permission from Nintendo to use snes roms?
avatar
Nergal01: Probably. That might also explain why it's a demo version.
If Blizzard owns the copyright to Rock 'n' Roll Racing, then Nintendo isn't needed for anything. Emulators are perfectly legal. Blizzard did have to go through the ZSNES team, though.

EDIT: According to a fellow user in another thread, emulation becomes a legal hurdle when it involves systems that require dumped BIOS files.

give diablo 2 :)

RottenRotz: give diablo 2 :)
Diablo 2 is already available on Blizzard's site. I think we should focus more on bringing games that are not available anywhere as digital copies. Like Blackthorne :)

I love The Lost Vikings, but the amiga version has a much better audio.

But Blackthorne is available through Battle.net.

As is The Lost Vikings, too. https://us.battle.net/account/download/

While we can be pretty sure they won't show up on GOG now, at least they are legally available.

I've beat the game a few times now with different characters. It isn't horrible, it's just meh/ok. I've sunk in an ungodly amount of hours in D2 but I just don't have the want to do so in D3. Note: I got D3 for Ps3 b/c the idea of the auction house pissed me off so much. No auction house on Ps3 and you don't have to be online.

Loot: it's ok. common never drops; magic is the new common, rare is new magic and legendary drops waaaay too often. But there is tons of it. tons and tons of loot. it's just the "OMG A LEGENDARY" is just diminished a bit.

Charcters: demon hunter and witch doctor are fun as hell to play. Explosions! Minions!

Stats: you don't get to pick them. at all. there is no design in your character build except for the skill tree and that is...

Skill Tree: garbage. there is none. "better" skills unlock as you progress and then with each skill comes a small selection of enhancers that go with it. There is no trial and error. if you don't like the skills you are using, just swap out. The lack of stats and the crap skill tree clearly show a desire to garner a more casual audience. You will not have multiple "barbarians" b/c at any given time you can swap out different skills; there is no leveling them.

Monsters: not bad. no different than any of the other diablos in terms of difficulty

Story: there are some interesting plot twists; nothing out of the normal Diablo plot lines.

I'd get it, but only if on sale. A very very good sale.

Wouldn't it be nice to see the old Blizzard games on GOG, like Warcraft 1 and 2?

It would be nice, but as long as Blizzard has their own digital download service, it will never happen.

I just hope they re-release The Lost Vikings 2 which I felt was superior to the first one.

It's more probable that we get LucasArts games here, rather than Blizzard ones.

LucasArts games are really cool too. There are a ton of votes for Outlaws, one of my favorite FPS games!
