It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Aliasalpha: IE8, yeah. I took the screencap in that full screen mode thing you get by hitting F11. Why?

lukaszthegreat: IE8 is a microsoft product. and you support it although you have three perfectly good choices for browser (chrome, Opera, FF)
Why would you support a company which shits at its users? The only reason IE8 exists is because firefox appeared. Otherwise we would still use IE6. unchanged, slow, dangerous...
That's wrong.
(I am entirely serious. People who are computer-literate and use IE are pissing me off)

If they prefer IE8 for whatever reason, it's their choice. I don't agree with it, but I'm not going to chastize them. It's not like their use of the client is harming us in any way, and it's not like they're saying anything bad about the other choices.

Yes they are harming everybody else. One person makes no difference but 100 thousands of them will. less people using FF, Opera, chrome less imitative to make those products better.
and if they don't get better neither will microsoft who doesn't care about net security, progress as long as it does not impact their profits.
They say if you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem. Using IE is a problem.
I have to agree with the others. It's just you guys getting treated like kids again, and IE sucks.
I think he was trying to draw a parallel to steam to make a point.
Frankly Ive never had issues with IE that I didn't also have with firefox. Having tried chrome, safari and... er... the other shit one... Opera! I find them to be close to identical and any differences are in the form of layout, plugins and psychology.
If I was to draw a steam parallel, I could point to the DownloadThemAll plugin for firefox*. Its good, solid and convenient but is permanently tied to firefox and can be disabled at a moments notice if firefox is updated but the plugin author doesn't bother to update the plugin (This did happen to me once but I think that was moving from firefox 2.X to 3 so there's probably a good reason and its doubtlessly been updated since). I refuse to use a downloading service tied to closely to a browser (more though lack of need and laziness rather than any real objection) so instead of a browser based solution for my porn thumbnail gallery raiding, I use Flashget.
*Note: This analogy is full of so many holes you can drive a convoy of trucks through, most notable being that you choose to update firefox and not have an option for steam
There is also one very important point I need to raise here so I'll put it in caps.
THIS IS NOT A THREAD ABOUT STEAM. THIS IS A THREAD ABOUT BORDERLANDS "AUSTRALIA" AND AT MOST A BITCH SESSION ABOUT AUSTRALIA'S LACK OF AN 18+. IT IS NOT ANOTHER BITCH ABOUT STEAM THREAD

Aliasalpha: IT IS NOT ANOTHER BITCH ABOUT STEAM THREAD

It's a GOG thread. Bitching about Steam is inevitable in any vaguely related thread. As is going substantially off topic.
If Borderlands was changed for Australia, it was entirely Gearbox's choice. There is no record of the game ever being refused classification in Australia, so either they thought they might be in trouble or it is a steam gaff. I dont see any reason why the game would have been RC, since it takes exceptional violence, or drugs/sex to get RC and Borderlands doesn't really have any of those.
Also, enough of the browser bullying.
And the fact that Gearbox themselves seem to have decided to tone it down to reduce the risk of it being RC'd is okay?
By the look of the OFLC database, it was approved for an MA15+ on 4/8/9 so presumably this has been buried for a while now
Well I got a reply from Valve about it
"Currently the official Borderlands page is in http://store.steampowered.com/app/8980/
We occasionally have beta pages like the one you see that may or may not become anything. While an "Add to Cart" button exists, you cannot make a purchase with this item in your cart"
It sort of sounds like they were hedging their bets on the game being RC'd but then why have a purchase button when you... well... can't purchase?
Probably because you weren't suppose to find that page... better question would be why was it showing up in any searches?
Searches nothing, this was in the specials tab of the store website
