KingOfDust: The only accessory I have is the Wii wheel that came with Mario Kart Wii, and I don't use it. It's just a useless piece of plastic, and I'd rather simply hold my Wiimote sideways. Most of my games don't make much use of the motion controls anyway, and I find that extra accessories just get in the way.

I can see why some people would like gun accessories for on-rail shooters though.
Play Mario Kart Wii with the D pad instead of turning the Wiimote sideways sometime. I was mad when I did that.

For those that don't know, you quickly find out that the difficulty in the game is entirely based on the shitty motion control scheme. Literally all the stuff you couldn't do before will suddenly just be done, and it will be easy. Thanks Nintendo!

As for lowyhong, don't buy a bunch of addons. A couple extra Wii-motes, a motion control plus, and a at least 2 nunchucks are all you need to start. Add stuff (probably extra nunchucks first) as you go along. Most of that stuff is non-functional and about 1% as fun as it seems like it would be.

A Classic Controller Pro is a good pick-up. You might consider the Wii Balance board. Other than that, I go with consensus and say the rest is mostly weak gimmicks.

Thanks guys. Yeah I'll buy the gun accessories at a later date, probably one at a time. I really miss light gun games, so these will hopefully fill the void.

Anyways I found a shop that still has stock for the Wii. Whoopdie doo. The best part is that, for its price (SGD269, which is around USD220), it comes with the Wii Remote Plus, and even has an extra one of those cheap Memorex Wiimotes! Maybe I'll pick it up tomorrow to give my bro a surprise, with just Wii Sports so he doesn't get too addicted.

I've a question about Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. I saw some gameplay vids, and I like the controls, but are there engaging sword-to-sword fights in the game?

Actually, I find that the sideways Wiimote controls work just fine. I managed to get a 3 star rating in every Grand Prix without too much trouble using that control scheme.

You do fight some enemies that use swords, like Stalfos, Girahim or the "undead" robot pirate captain/king, but they probably won't really feel like sword-to-sword fights. Basically you're blocking with your shield and counterattacking with your sword. It's more about bashing the enemy in the face at the right moment and with the right angle of attack.

Great game though, I loved it. If you do end up getting it, here's a little piece of advice for fighting Girahim: when's he's using his hand to block your sword, put up your shield when approaching him, he won't be able to tell from where your next attack will come, and his hand will stay in the position it was when you put up your shield. Will save you a lot of frustration.

Get a 360, most cross platform games work better on the 360, because its architecture is easier for devs to create games on. It has great exclusives, but then again so has the PS3.

Racing Game Forza, any of them.

On rails shooter, Gunstringer on Kinect. Child of Eden Kinect or regular controller.

Online, XBOX LIVE while it does charge for GOLD membership, it is hands down the best at what it does and worth it if you play MP games.

BTW, I have a 360 and a PS3, I use the PS3 for its exclusives and JRPG's and Bluray Movies. I use the 360 for everything else.

I saw someone mention transferring game data between 360's, you can do it with a Licence Transfer, so if your HD/360 breaks down and you get another, you can just unclip your old HD and transfer it to your new 360, fill out the Licence transfer, connect to the inter net for a few minutes and you are good to go.

It's not that it's not possible, it's that it's much, much harder relatively, which indicates the game is artificially difficult due to the motion controls. You may be a very skilled gamer and not notice as much, hand the game to an average 8 year old and watch them play it both ways. Then hand it to the average 40-50 year old "non-gamer" and watch them play it both ways.

Everything you said is a good argument, but it's a gift for his brother and his brother wants a Wii.

It uses motion control plus (requires it I think) so people have said it was better than Twilight Princess. How much better I don't know, Twilight Princess just made you waggle it a big, the direction never mattered.

I would love to play the new Zelda at some point but the waggle controls for the last one drove me INSANE.

That is all.

They actually hurt my wrist. It wasn't carpal tunnel, but I did have to do massages on the small muscles to get them to relax enough or my hands would hurt like hell. That's actually one of the reasons I avoid the Wii, they don't just use the waggle shit when it improves gameplay, they use it whenever they can, and that sucks:(
I never had any trouble with the Wiimote itself personally, but I do find the nunchuck to be very uncomfortable. It's just too small for my hands, and the fingers on my left hand can really hurt after a long playing session when using the nunchuck. I wonder if there's any 3rd-party version of the nunchuck with a size more adapted to people with long fingers like me.
Good to know. Shame we'll probably never get to see a Die by the Sword-like game on the Wii :( (This is probably the closest) Thanks guys.

I hear a lot of complaints over that game, but mine is kind of opposed when it comes to 'amount'. I found you had to put very little effort in, basically every small flick was a swing, I was certainly hoping for more intuitive control with broader strokes. To me Red Steel 2 proved the Wii controls can work, but I certainly hope that Red Steel 2 isn't the apex, kind of a mediocre game (that the controls make up for in my particular adoration of it).

I should add, I heard a review for Skyward Sword where the reviewer complains about the motion controls. As far as I could tell his main complaint was just "too much, I don't want to be forced to use them". I believe the nature of that complaint comes from his role as a game reviewer in particular though, where he has little choice but to put a marathon of gaming into each major title he reviews. So take your time, when some of the entertainment factor decreases, put it down and play it another day. (I also hear complaints about hand-holding- I'd probably agree with those ones).

Well, he said :

ATM I'm torn between the XBOX360 and Wii.

So I was answering his question.

Sry for the misunderstanding. I've already decided on the Wii a few pages ago, but thanks anyway :P

(btw, pictures incoming soon!)

I believe you wanted a Wii for your little brother? If so, the Lego games (Star Wars, Indiana Jones etc.) are a blast for playing with kids.
Cheers cba reading through 8 pages, so I just stuck in my two cents worth :)
