Well, my birthday is coming up soon and I have some money left over, so I might just buy a console for me room. You know, saves me time and energy carrying the bastard from the living room into my bedroom.
Anyway.
So, I was wondering, since both the PS3 and 360 have gone through lots of price drops, which one is worth it? I don't care if it's Elite or Arcade, or if it's the normal or slim PS3. I already have one of each somewhere. This is also good in that I can play some co op with friends and stuff. Anyone with both with a personal preference over one of them? Thanks.
Yeah: get the one that has the games you prefer playing.
Since you already have both and can form your own opinion, the decision is probably best left to yourself.
Not rude, just my honest opinion.

Both are currently in the mood to see how the other will drop it's price, and end of year sales/bundles are going to show soon. I'd suggest to wait that little bit longer and see what happens unless you are really after one.
After playing various games on Xbox arcade (and Wii VC) on the weekend at a friends place, I'm tempted to sway that way. The actual full retail release games barely interest me honestly, so I can't quite justify the price involved.
Well, I'm one of those people who really doesn't care about the minute graphics difference. Rather, I pay attention to exclusive game titles, and price, and overall price, and whatnot. Also, I buy games on different platforms for no reason, like I bought Madden 08 for the 360 but Madden 09 for the PS3, and Madden NFL 10 will be for... maybe the PS3 this year. I really don't know.
And honestly, I don't really have an opinion over them. I play games on whatever system I own. And I'm not one to decide things, really. I suck at making decisions.

Ah, the bundles. Well, my birthday is on November (so maybe they'll release them early... I hope) so I hope I can wait that long. Also, I'm also looking at the motion sensing wars to see which one is better. Then again, there's no point in waving my arms around in my bed.

I'd go for a 360 personally. The Elite is dropping in price any minute now and there's a version coming with a 250GB hard drive for modern warfare 2 and I think Forza 3. At least going by the australian availablility, the 360 has a lot more digital content (some like the digital versions of 360 games are at outrageous prices but thats what ebay is for) and it does seem to be the platform for exclusivity. That said, the PS3 has heavy rain and thats the reason I recently bought one.
If you've already got both though, just get whichever one you're likely to coop the most with. No matter how fancy some of the PS3's features are, if you're in the mood to play gears of war you're out of luck

I suppose you cant be convinced to NOT buy a console and instead help the PC scene along somehow.
The PS3 seems more future-proofed. Developers are already fretting over the limited optical media storage capacity of the 360. As we head into 2010 we're really going to see that take a toll on texture quality and content.
Plus, all the more tempting exclusives (for me at least) are on PS3. 360 'exclusives' have a way of finding their way onto PC. Which renders the console all but pointless to anyone with a decent computer.
Plus you get a Blu-ray player and it won't be a doorstop the second the warranty expires. Anyway, if I was going to get either one, it would definitely be a PS3. Even if that's because I'd never want to own such an expensive piece of shoddy Microsoft hardware.
The PS3 is the vastly superior choice.

No, I cannot.

Precisely my point.
What games are you most likely wanting to play?
Are they exclusive to one platform? -> Get that one.
Are they on both platforms? -> Which platform is cheaper? Price differences in games for either platform? -> Get the cheapest.
Do you use online functionality? Which of the online platforms do you prefer? (I have no idea what features PSN has, and care little for the xbox marketplace so far except for the free downloadable content, though I may be convinced to get some games from arcade sometime in the future)
Either make up a list of pros and cons for each platform, or throw a die/flip a coin.

If you have a good gaming PC, get a PS3. It has way more exclusives, the 360 only has Halo 3, Gears 2 and Fable 2, and their lineup this year is terrible. The PS3 has a bunch of awesome exclusives this year, and there's a lot of decent games from past years that you can't get on the 360. Just do some research: the PS3 has inFamous, Uncharted, Resistance, LittleBigPlanet, MGS 4, Socom, Heavy Rain, Warhawk, Motorstorm, and many more.

Yeah, sounds about right. And it'll be cool to have a personal BD player in my own room. But honestly, Uncharted 2 doesn't really tickle me to the point of must-buyness, so I think I'll just rush into Toys R Us (yes, they're one of the cheaper stores for games here) and just pick the first console I see.
if you're buying your 3rd or 4th (if you have a Wii too) console this generation then send me the cash instead!! I need to buy some food for my starving kids.
Or a bigger tv...

A bigger TV to watch those charity ads that have starving kids in
What do you spend the most time playing? This is the real point - what box do you most often lug upstairs? Do you do lots of blu-ray? Or as with me is DVD adequate your setup? These "future-proof" arguments do nothing for me; you are already "future-proofed" because you already have access to a PS3.
