Just wanted to let everyone know that you can get Witcher 2 at Direct2Drive for just $35 if you use the Marchmadness coupon code. A good price if you ask me.
No. Go away.

Or you can preorder it here on GOG and get a boatload of free goodies. And no DRM. Take your pick. ;)

And EU customers basically get 21-26 USD worth in GoG games - well, that was selling point for me! Still shame CD project is no longer doing CZ dubbing for games, or I'd get Czech relail version (Polish dubbing was great, but it kept distracting me since I understood 50% of it and that kept me from reading subtitles, which cause other 50% to elude me :D )

for UK customers it's 31 pounds

Nice to see that D2D has the wonderful "Steam mentality" of the fact that, almost One US Dollar = One pound sterling

meanwhile GOG.com recently dropped the price even lower for UK customers and on GOG it will be only 26.99 pounds

Let's be honest here, other retailers might try to tempt you but GOG.com is going to have the best Deal on TW2 online, period. Not to mention that the money goes Directly to CDprojekt
Here's the thing: this is a rare opportunity to put my money where my mouth is. I've ranted quite often about how much I hate DRM, and how stupid DRM has caused me to avoid quite a few games. Now, I am presented with a chance to get a new game DRM-free.

Whilst the decision to make the legal DRM-free version a GOG exclusive doesn't quite sit right with me, the choice is still the same: buy the game with DRM and say that I'm okay with it, or actually follow through and buy the game without DRM. If the DRM-free version, for whatever reason, is more expensive than the DRM version... well, in that instance it sucks to be my bank balance.

Of course, having said all that, even if it were DRM-free everywhere, as soon as they announced it for sale on GOG, GOG was always where I was going to buy it (well, the digital version, least ways :-) )

With all due respect, when I get around to buying The Witcher 2, I'd rather do so from a site where I know I will get support in the event I should need it -- GOG simply doesn't give the impression at this time that it even cares about providing support. The lack of support, while not acceptable, isn't too much of a worry for a $5.99 game, but a full price one?

Besides, thanks to all those lovely blue coins on GamersGate there's the potential to get the game for free on release no amount of extras on GOG or the lack of DRM can beat free ;)
Or, you can get it from Amazon or Sendit, if you want the physical AND digital copies, in one package. ;)

The DRM should be no problem either, since it takes 1 minute to go to GCW and download a cracked exe. ;)

I highly doubt CD Projekt would endorse downloading a cracked exe even if you legitimately owned the game.

I will be buying the game from GoG. In essence, the free game makes this version less expensive than other sites and the lack of DRM is a bonus. Also, as others pointed out, by buying here, I am voting with my wallet in the hopes that future new releases from major publishers are also DRM free. In that regard, I hope the GoG version sells better or on par with the other digital download services.
If GOG could sell it for $35, I'd buy it here in an instant. But it's not $35 - it's €45 which translates to $60. Even with the $16 on top of that (which is not really as good as keeping the money, is it?) it's still $44 or $9 more expensive. With D2D, it's easy to pay just the US price.

That doesn't seem all to realistic given the exposure of other digital download services compared to GoG, now does it?
How many people know and use Steam and how would these figures look for GoG?
Furthermore pricing might play a massive role here if other services offer decent enough discounts (despite the 'hidden' bonus of moral, DRM free, goodies, or even old games).
And last, but not least, there might be a trust issue. GoG isn't exactly famous for their support or their capability to handle a web appearance (they have no API, they lack all the basic features other similar services offer like seeing another person's wish-list, directly gifting games, they do not even have a working private message system on their forum).

I doubt that the actual amount of purchases through each of these channels can be seen as a direct sign of dis-/like on DRM.
I pre-ordered here a long time ago.

hobbes543:
Okay, let me rephrase that part...

I'll install a mod for the game.

Better?

Its pretty much the same thing.
No DRM and a fair price package = no brainer right off the bat, DRM and regional pricing being two of the main gripes i have when it comes to buying games. More coin going directly to Red and extra goodies just sweettens the deal even more for me.

So yeah, unless one of the other platforms offers complimentary sexual favours with their pre orders i'm definitely sticking with gog.

And add a free game of the 5 offered as bonus. Which for me it will be Gothic 2 (9.99$). Overall not much difference. DRM free is nice.
