Pretty simple. I'm bored and want to unleash my creativity. I also want to see actually how good of a writer I am. So you pick a theme and I'll write a story on it (length depends on how bored I am). I'll use my prefered themes first:

Themes/Genres:

Typical Sci-Fi:
Gritty Sci-Fi:
Fantasy/Sci-fi:
Modern day Sci-fi:
Historical Sci-fi:
High Fantasy:
Weird Fantasy:
Dark Fantasy:
Historical Fantasy:
Mythological Fantasy:
Modern Day Fantasy:
Steampunk:
Historical:
Conspiracy:
Thriller:
Military:
Horror:
Fantasy Horror:
Sci-fi Horror:
Post-Apocalyptic:
Survival:
Modern-day monster hunting:
Other (Say your prefered theme):

I'm not sure of the specific names (or if there is one :P) of some of the themes or genres so I just made one up. So, if you've confused about what some of the themes are, just ask.
Post-apocalyptic horror? With a setting reminiscent of the abandoned areas of Detroit?
Military Modern-day Monster Hunting? That'd be rad :3
Apocalyptic Steampunk
Its always a long time after the apocalypse why not write one that takes place during and straight after and set in a steampunk universe

I always wanted to do a post-apocalyptic fantasy story, because that's something that doesn't really seem to exist.

And i don't mean something like Shadowrun, where there are fantasy elements in a post-apocalyptic world, but more like "What would Middle-earth look like, if there was an apocalyptic event?"

Seconded. Also gritty sci-fi horror with settings reminiscent of abandoned East St. Louis or Baltimore.
Steampunk. Always liked the genre.
I second Post-Apocalyptic Steampunk.
High fantasy:)
I don't want to pinion your wings, but just the idea that you need an advice on what kind of story you should write could mean that you are not creative enough to sustain the writer's fatigue :-S

It's more to do with I have too much ideas and need to either pick one or organize. The genres aren't too specific either so I can twist it into whatever I want. :)
Other: Literary fiction.
