Could you help me? I need some info about registering some classic games on battle.net and when I tried to learn something meaningful there I was constantly asked to log in. I hate creating unwanted accounts and I'm sure some of you know the answers for my questions.

I have following Blizzard games (all retail version):
Blackthorne
Diablo
Diablo II + Lord of Destruction
The Lost Vikings
The Lost Vikings II
StarCraft + Bood War
Warcraft: Orcs & Humans
Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness
Warcraft II: Battle.net Edition
Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos + The Frozen Throne

Which of them I can redeem? What are the benefits? May I download those games any time I wish? Is there some "always online" requirements to play those games? Or any other DRM? Is it worth it at all? I'm not really into multiplayer so doubt I'll use that option often (if ever). A digital backup, if it is hassle-free, might be good though...

I have Warcraft 3 RoC and Diablo 2 on battle.net. It's just like you want -- a digital backup. I don't know what else can be backed up there, but I bet more than that (I'd imagine at least SC).

There's your list. Blackthorne is free if you sign into Battle.net from the US Battle.net site (EU doesn't work).

Diablo 1, Warcraft 1 & 2 and The Lost Vikings 1 & 2 don't have codes to activate, but I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard added them as freebies at some point.

Oh, and the Starcraft key gives you Brood War automatically - no need to separately register it (was there even a key for Brood War?)

Just a digital backup. The only benefit that you have is that you can download your language of choice, which was interesting to me for playing many of the games in English for a change (I have them in German on disc).

None of them have DRM, although you do have to download them through a downloader.

It doesn't, but as long as you sign in to us.battle.net, you'll be fine (visiting www.battle.net will redirect you automatically to eu.battle.net). The accounts are all the same - there's no separate EU or US one.

Thanks a lot! That's actually all I wanted to know :D I have a Polish version of Diablo 2 and some monsters' names are a bit... ridiculous ;) so I'll gladly get an English version

It's a bit funny that Warcraft II: Battle.net Edition cannot be redeemed on battle.net ;)

Sorta related question, but has anyone downloaded Diablo II, Warcraft III and/or StarCraft from the Blizzard website and gotten it to work on Windows 8/8.1 64bit? I'd like to get them but don't want to risk them not working.

I just played through the original starcraft I downloaded from battlenet and it worked great on my win 8 machine
Warcraft 3 also works well
