It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

BEFORE TO READ: I'm not saying GOG downloader is BAD!! I'm just saying that I'd like to have
more advanced functions, so since I can code, I thought: why not give it a try!

Hi,
I really like the idea behind GOG and I'm a big fan of DRM free games.
By the way I think that the GOG downloader lacks of some really important features
that should be present. I mean, steam client is really another story when compared to
GOG downloader.
I don't want to bother GOG staff begging to use their precious time to code a client
(I really prefer that they spent they time adding more cool games :D) .
I don't know if coding an unofficial client is legal, so before to start to work on this, I'll wait for GOG mods to
approve this (or remove this, if they think that this cannot be done in an "unofficial" way)

So let get to the point, here is a features list of what I'd like to code:

- This will be written in JAVA (so will be compatible with Linux/Windows/OSX)
- It will list all the games presents in your account
- 1 click download and install
- 1 click remove
- 1 click backup your save-game on the cloud (on Dropbox or equivalent)
- This will support multilanguage (I need the help of some of you for this one..)
- maybe there will eventually be a chat system (based on skype ? facebook ? not 100% sure atm)
- this will be social (FB and twitter integration)
- this will be 100% opensource, so everyone can contribute and make this client AAA grade.

Some downsides: please note that in the first time I'll be alone working on this, so it will require alot of time. I cannot guarentee anything, this will come in the hope that it will be usefull but without any implicit or explicit guarantee. I'll do my best to make something worth the work.

I'd like to receive some ideas also.

Thank you,
Luca

Just so you know, I think there is already an unofficial java client. Also GOG will be coming out with a new client called Galaxy. I don't know if either has/will have all the features you want though.

Edit: Ninja'd.
