Here's some beauties:

Campaign scenario is written by Joseph Goebbels fans.]Campaign scenario is written by Joseph Goebbels fans.

Story is written by Soviet dissident who sold his words for a piece of bread and a jar of jam.

russophobia and a set of myths about the heroism of the Soviet people. Developers like the Nazis rather than a Russian who saved their asses.

This Nazi game made by Nazis. I would like it to be wiped from the memory of people who played this game. Dear Nazis from the team Relic, shame on you, and your families. Helpful? 70 of 77 users said Yes.

I kinda agree though, from watching some youtube videos of the campaign, the game basically does the old copypasta of Enemy at the Gates-style view on the Soviets being nothing but drones led by evil Commissar officers and the Germans being noble aristocrats. Muricans gonna murican

that is so tired subject to speak about in general, that i think ill just let it be.
This just looks like reposted troll bait with a bit of Crosmando troll flavoring at the end to antagonize 'Muricans' as he calls them.

Is this for a German campaign? (I ask because that's not something I've ever seen in World War 2 themed games, they're all from an Allied perspective.)

If so I'd completely expect it to look like Nazi propaganda. Commanding officers and political leaders aren't going to tell their troops that what they're doing is outright evil and that they're fighting the "heroes" of the war, that's bad for morale.

I think I'd need more information on the game to be able to say really, I don't want to look like FOX news ripping apart Mass Effect. :P

How do they feel about the "Dancing Nazi" easter egg in Wolfenstein 3D?

Ooops, shit, I screwed up. It's actually in "Return to Wolfenstein". I'll see if I can't find a clip of it.

Nah the footage I watched was of the Soviet campaign. It was basically an exact copypasta of "Enemy at the Gates", even the crossing the Volga in boats under fire scene was copied, and then the evil Commissars sending the conscripts to their deaths etc. It looked pretty cringeworthy and it's annoying because almost all WWII games rely almost entirely on stereotype and not on historical research.

In my opinion, that's really a discussion I do not really want to get involved in, due to the flammability of the subject.
But I just wanted to point out that the other day, I don't recall who I was talking with, but we agreed to say CoH1 was one of the most historically neutral game about WW2, in the sense that it really didn't get into the 'politics' that much, just kept to military things.

Did Relic really change their stance on the second opus?

Edit : just saw the *new* posts ... I see.

As in the whole thing about Soviet Officers even killing their own soldiers because they were retreating from nearly impossible odds?
There's been a rise in extreme "Neo-Stalinism" in Russia over the past decade or so, so the reactions don't surprise me. There's a big trend among the youth of Russia of late in particular to glorify Soviet and Stalinist ideals combined with a rather unhealthy nationalist/national socialist streak. It has a footing in Russian 'gopnik' culture and is very similar to the chav/EDL mentality in the UK.

I really don't know enough about the social situation in Russia to know why this is coming about, maybe someone like grviper can explain more?

That's good, a man who killed more than Hitler gaining in popularity. Remind me to avoid it on my next vacation.

Yes, as in, instances of that actually happening on the Eastern Front (historically) were very rare. I think Relic might of got a bit confused between the Commissars in their Dawn of War games

They were ordered to shoot anyone who retreated. If they actually did or not I don't know. It probably falls into the whole "Windtalkers" thing with the U.S. True they were told to kill the code breakers they were escorting if captured, also true that they tended to laugh the order off.

Not really. I was just replying to Pheace not Crosmando. He'll have to go hungry this time. At least he's not getting any food out of me on this one. ;-)
