OK, so I got the PS2 to show up on my monitor after going out and buying component cables. Now the only issue is getting sound through. I figured I could just plug in all the component cables to the monitor and then plug in speakers to the monitor, but it looks like I can't do that. Any suggestions on where I can find a good pair of component speakers?

Are you talking about red and white plugs? If so you can get something like this and just use simple standard computer speakers.
Why do you want component speakers? I'm not clear on why you'd want those over a simple converter cable as ceemdee provided.
By component cables you mean the Red/Blue/Green cables? Those only do video. You need the composite red/white cables for audio.

Sweet, thanks. Now I just need to find a local store that would sell something like that...
Fry's, maybe?

Radioshack would probably have it too.

Just so you know, you can get inexpensive converter cables like that for just about everything. Hell, there's probably a lead to gold converter cable for all I know.
Hmm, I just realized that depending on your speakers what you might need is actually an RCA (red, white) female to 3.5mm female adapter, but for some reason those seem to be more difficult to find. If you can't find one of those you can always add one of these to the first cable.
This is only if your speakers have their audio cable hard wired to them however.

Actually, that's exactly what I needed. Thanks!
