Okay so here's the deal Tax season has arrived and I'll be getting a larger tax return then I expected and I wanted to ask my fellow GoGers what there thoughts were on prebuilt computers.

I'm looking at 600-800$ extra that I'd like to splurge on a new Computer but don't want to go through all the hassle of putting the damn thing together I've done that before and have always been less then satisfied with the results.

So what systems if you had 600-800$ would you buy that are nice a prebuilt I've looked at Dell and HP so far but can decide.

Games I would like to be able to run on medium/smoothly would be The Witcher 2.

I'll just give you my current PC specs, as I'm quite satisfied with it. Shouldn't be worth more than 800$ now:
Pentium i7 2600K 3.4GH (on an Asrock P67 Pro3 1155 ATX motherboard)
8 GB ram
Radeon HD6870 (or a nVidia equivalent)
Plus PSU and all the other niceties

It's all pretty standard stuff, the graphic card should be the only real decision point and the biggest money spender if you go for more power.
8 GB ram means Win7 64bit of course...

$600 to $800 is pushing it for a computer that can present Geralt making mincemeat of his enemies with all the eye candy. But here you go:

Forget Dell or HP. Nothing with adequate graphics in that price range, not even on Dell Outlet.

iBUYPOWER can do what you want for approx. $890; CyberPowerPC, for approx. $960.
Have a look at the Alienware stuff, they were bought by Dell.

I would say if you want something for gaming that is the way to go.

It is a lot cheaper in the long run to actually build a system yourself from scratch. I can appreciate you saying you just want to buy a pre buit one.

Something like :

Dont think you get a screen or keyboard / mouse with that but you can get widescreen monitor with in built speakers quite cheap now.
You can get the Alienware X51 for $699, which gives you:

Intel Core i3-2120 3.3ghz (3MB L2 Cache)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
8GB DDR3 1333mhz
1TB 7200RPM HDD
Dual Layer DVD Burner
Nvidia GeForce GT 545 1GB GDDR5
Wireless Ethernet

You can upgrade it to fit your needs on the site too (better video card,, cpu, etc.)

I don't know about you but that would be the perfect system for me.

I second crjgreen. Check cyberpowerpc's configurator (http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/CyberPower_H67_Configurator/). [can't access Ibuypowerpc from here]

For 750 usd, you should be able to get something an i3 2120, 8gb ram; 1 Tb HDD, Radeon 6770

An I5 2550k in the same config would add another 150 dollars

I agree with crjgreen and Phc7600. I've bought a similarly priced machine from Cyberpowerpc.com four years ago. The build quality and the wiring job was decent and it still works without a hitch. They're having a sale now as well, have a look at their website.
I would vote against Dell or HP since imho those guys always try to screw you by putting in slower RAM or cheaper hard drives sneakily, and dealing with Dell customer support in the past has been a nightmare for me (XPS desktop). Their cases also look boring compared to the ones you can get from ibuyPower or CyberPower.

P.S. You'd have to tweak graphic settings for the Witcher 2 to run smoothly. Even with ubersampling turned off, but the rest maxed out, it needs a Geforce GTX580 or close alternative to run smoothly at 1900x1200 in my experience.

I like the idea of going with the Alienware X51 only because its pre-built.

My problem with the cyberpowerpc's is that I haven't been keeping up with the current how to for building a gaming PC and the whole idea of reading up on the different specs and which would be better would take a lot of time I don't really want to put towards building a machine.

But I'm still thinking and not going to decide which to go with just yet please keep the suggestions coming.
I recommend a Dell XPS model. They feature solid build quality and have a good price-to-performance ratio on the lower end of the spectrum. They are usually made with Sandy Bridges and nVidia 500s so you should be fine for medium settings at decent resolutions.
OP's first post stated that his budget was $600-800, and for that he wants something that will run TW2 smoothly at medium settings.

The Alienware X51 is a good fit for that. It is, however, not end-user upgradeable; be sure that is what you want and won't decide later that you wanted something more. If you go this route, I would encourage ordering it with the GTX 555 graphics, not the stock GT 545.

Dell XPS models don't even come close at that price point. Yes, they are solid and a good foundation for upgrades. But you'll be several hundred dollars over your budget.

Base desktop model is $749, and base laptop is $799 via Dell's site, and they often have coupons available.

Base desktop has a -- what? Radeon 6450? That's sending a little boy to do a big man's job. And the CPU is -- what? Core i5 2320?

Another $140 if you want a decent GPU. Now you're at $889, and you can do a lot better at the other sites.
