getting very slow d/l speed : range from 80 to 150 KB/s - at that rate a 660MB game would take an hour to d/l!!!

I know it is not my connection (cable, > 11Mbps), wouldn't expect much congestion at this time 9PM California time- Europe should be mostly asleep, and much of US also.

What's the story? Servers down? ??

This is not helpful at all, more of a useless story. Anyway about an hour ago my d/l speed everywhere was ridiculously slow. Your speed is actually super fast compared to mine, I was getting 12-26 Kb/s on steam, 43-70 on gamersgate

I screwed with some stuff on my computer and nothing happened. Then i saw this thread title, clicked on it , left the thread and noticed that steam had gone up to 770 Kb/s.


Conclusion: this thread has magical powers

but didn't help me - still d/l at 100 to 200 KB/s - well, actually that is a slight improvement (very slight) over the beginning speeds of 80 to 150

I just tried downloading fallout here and I was getting about 550 Kb/s

Just now (2PM California time) tried another file and got a SOLID 1.1MB/s, so I guess that last night was just some weird problem in the internet somewhere
