So I was cruising around the internet procrastinating when I ran across this on IndieGames.com: An indie PC game called Dark Delve.

http://indiegames.com/2012/02/dungeon_crawler_dark_delve_pre.html

It's a port of a first person dungeon crawler (yay) from Xbox Live Indie Games (boo hiss) launching on PC with a minimum dollar pay what you want model (yay).

Watching the preview makes it look a little hit or miss in terms of prettiness, but one thing that jumped out was the fact that it was pretty heavily compared to Wizardry. I freaking love Wizardry, so that got my attention. I'm thinking I might just throw a couple of bucks at it to try it out.

So, friends. Anyone try this on XBLIG or PC? Thoughts? Know any other indie Wizardry/M&M clones? I know of Grimrock, but that's it.
I am downloading the Demo and will give it a shot.
What can I judge from video, nice idea, poor execution. Game world looks ok, but fighting screen, monster pictures etc look like from a game you make in high school during your computer science classes.

I'll pass.

On one hand, I totally agree with you and that's why I was kinda skeptical and asking if anyone else had tried it.

On the other, man. Have you looked at the Wizardry graphics in a while? These are works of art in comparison.
Ok, but now everybody has a technology to make something better. They don't have any talented graphics designer friend?

I don't expect full hd 3d ultra whatever, just not something that looks like drawings of a first grader.

Unless that was an entire game's style to look like drawings of a first grader. But it's not. Game world looks dark and serious, when monsters look like i've said - like drawings made by some retarded kid. Monsters pictures don't fit the rest of the game at all...

Well if they do the whole shitty drawing thing, they might as well not slap it on a absolutely not matching 3D environment.

Old graphics are usually aesthetically pleasing, this is a mess.
Exactly. They don't have enough money / manpower to make 3d models for monsters? So they should make this game in RPG Maker , like Cthulhu Saves the World, then my eyes wouldn't bleed so much...
I got this game on my xbox and I deleted it, the art is really bad, the faces looked like a 6 year old drew them.
Looks like the gameplay is fun, but as everybody else has said the mismatched art really makes the game look wrong.

I almost picked it up on XBLIG after reading Indie Gamer Chick's review because I have 90 points in my account, but I think I'm gonna get Soulcaster 2 instead.
