I prefered the CGI trailer of the first game .

Okay, I'm gonna spill it here, I got to see an alpha build in a closed theater last year at PAX. A couple devs played while the lead joked around with the audience.

Riptide is going to be fucking amazing, ALL the improvements were based on fan feedback from the first.

At the end the lead said, "Please let us know if you see issues right now, as it's still early enough I can probably fix it."

So we get better shooting mechanics, the ability to build temporary barricades, booby traps (at least of the explosive variety), and a new team member with resistance.

I ordered the XBox 360 collector's edition (sadly I couldn't get the bust since all the jerkwads who clearly have never played Dead Island bitched so much about it). I'll probably get the PC version as well.

Is anyone else this thrilled? It's almost fucking here!
I liked DI very much. Strangely enough, I enjoyed the various Fed-Ex quests. It really captured the desperate feel of survivors stranded on an island infested with zombies. If only it were a bit less focused on cooperative multiplayer. I din't like the constantly respawning enemies and unrealistically fast weapon degradation.
I didn't like the original, didn't play it long. Like Borderlands the coop focus makes it a boring singleplayer game and I don't play multiplayer.

Glad a lot of people enjoy these games though.
Love the hell out of the first game, saw a video for the defence system, cant wait to get this game!
seriously coudnt enjoy the first game, weapons breaks way too much, even a heavy metal pipe after couple of zombies and didnt have much of single player focus
Loved the first one singleplayer. Was really well done in my opinion (apart from the vids obviously)

As for the breaking, you really need to get further into the game, it gets less and less of a problem as you get more skills.

The first game I found you had to get a few hours in before it started to really shine, the beginning feels like an extremely long tutorial and is kinda boring. By the end I just loved it. I haven't really been following Riptide but it sure sounds like i'll have to get it.

It's hard to get into a game that's so tedious to play and so buggy. Even if the weapons breaking after two hits and the zombies respawning right on top of me weren't enough, the stuttering every time you press two keys at once would have killed it for me.

You tried playing it without Dead Island Helper? You've got balls!

I didn't enjoy the first one that much. Got really bored of it by the time I made it to the second city. Hoping that the sequel will be an improvement.

Thanks, I've never heard of that. I'll give it a try.
Oh, that reminds me to preorder collectors edition. I liked the first one quite a bit.

That does sound annoying. I was lucky I guess, apart from my thrown disappearing at some point I barely ever saw a bug in the game and it ran smooth.
