I know some of you loathe FB and that's cool by me. Frankly it helps me keep in touch with distant family and friends.

So for those of you that loathe the thing, here's a GA of a free game I got on FB - a steam code for Defense Grid: The Awakening

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defense_Grid:_The_Awakening

I'll close this GA fairly quickly - a day or so - so be quick if you want to enter!

No other requirements except I want to hear why you hate FB. This is a question afterall.

Since I've marked this as a question, the winner will get five rep points in addition to the game.

Let the FB smashing begin!

I'll enter it, but only because there are lots and lots of codes floating around so I think it'll hardly be unfair to other FB-haters.

I think I have a personal thing against all the social networking. I used Orkut for a while (before FB even existed) and I noticed how it was mostly a popularity contest, a troll breeding ground and a timewaste sink. By the time FB and twitter came around I had lost all interest. I'm probably not a people person anyway, I'm kinda antisocial really so it fits me.

Oh yeah, the fact that they don't give a shit to our privacy and that they made several mistakes that turned public things that were marked private is just the turd on top of the cake. ;-)

Amd don't get me started on all those updates on how "Alex just bought a cow for her farm!!" Wow, really? How amazing. I wonder how I would live with myself if nobody ever told me that. ¬¬*

Thanks for the GA Momo

~laughs~ Thanks for the giggle, jpolastre;-)

Personally, I think 1984 had it right - privacy is dead. Just look at the lives ruined by FB and other media outlets. Is the connection with loved ones worth this destruction? Dunno - it seems vastly unfair to the current generation when all of our indiscretions are bygones - not filmed and mostly not photographed and certainly not instantly shared!
Here is why I hate Facebook
1) Constantly shoved in front of my face.
2) I don't want it, but shoved in my face
3) I'm obstinate
4) My life is so interesting, clearly the world must know that I did the dishes today!
5) I don't like my information floating around the net, I like some illusion of control over my information
6) Of course I have something to hide; it is called my personal life and it is no one's business but my own.
7) I don't want the drama
8) I find Facebook creepy
9) I prefer contact through email, phone, or better yet in person
9 a.) If one can't bother to send me an email, especially when I sent the last one, than it is most likely a sign that one doesn't care to stay in touch.
10) CONSTANTLY SHOVED IN FRONT OF MY FACE!

This is my personal opinion. If you love FB, good for you but its not my cup of tea.

I probably will have to open a social networking account for business but I'll most likely be setting it up elsewhere. I'll probably at least set up a personal website instead; it looks more impressive putting in the effort to do my own coding.

Linked-in is a good option but then I'd miss all the cute pix my sis posts of her newest kitten. I guess what i'm saying is that it's become a necessary evil that I have to accept if I want to stay in regular contact with the peeps I really care about. sigh

You're welcome, actually it didn't take me any effort. Ranting about FB is a so natural thing to do, you see...

I agree with you but I decided not to run the subject dry myself because, you know, there will be other entries (I hope).
