kavazovangel: Diablo 2 was dumbed down? :D Woa! :D
- No random quests
- Only "autosave", cannot create your own saves
- Resetting areas (respawning enemies)

Well it's my overall feeling. I prefer the first one to the second, but still I like them both.

making game harder and enabling player to come back several times to some areas for loot = dumbing down? nice try!

Well, I wouldn't agree. Game would actually be harder if you couldn't go back several times and earn extra XP and extra items. In Diablo 1 you had to push forward with whatever you had in your inventory. No extra leveling / grinding was possible.
And yes, I don't like when I can't save whenever I like. Especially when I need to end session and later come back. I would like to resume the game from the same point where I was.
But that's just me guys! My impression is that the game was dumbed-down a bit and yours can be different. Don't eat me alive here! ;)
The major difference is, in Diablo 1 when you died, you loaded the game and it was all right.

In D2 if you died, you had to pick up your body, or you lost money, xp, and your items, if somebody else picked it up (in multiplayer)

Also, you couldn't save just before the boss fight and repeat it over and over again until you succeed.

It made D2 much more challenging, at least for me, on higher difficulty levels.

KneeTheCap: Because I am again a wow-addict, I get this one for free :D
So that's where you've been! :P

I think I'll wait for the console version, my computer may hiccup trying to run it. I'm not so excited for it anyway so don't mind waiting.

Depends on how you look at it. In Diablo 1 when you died, well it means your dead! :D Game over! You lose - kind a like in roguelike games, except for you can load a save game and try again. And in Diablo II - you are like invincible, your character never really dies. I mean, it depends on how you look at it. But yeah, if you don't bother dying all the time, then Diablo 1 seems to be less painful.

Never played MP. Really, that's not my cup of tea and also that's way I don't think buying Diablo III would be such a great idea.

Unfortunately I didn't get that far. I quit after Act II and moved to other games.

Maybe that's the reason we see it in a different way. I am interested in SP experience and I guess you were more focused on MP.

Im mostly single player fan, but for Diablo 2, if you want to fully experience the game, you should play with several friends. Enemies get tougher the more people are connected (and you get more xp for them), also in mp you get better items, etc etc.
For those who don't care about Diablo 3: http://i.imgur.com/hJje8.jpg :)
It's about time, i pre-ordered it back in December. I hope they don't have scheduled maintenence like Wow. Also, i hope they dont fucking nerf all of the playable characters, also like wow. I've read that in the beta they actually changed alot of core elements of the game, this concerns me greatly.

Open letter to Blizzard, for the next game please do not announce it four years from being an actual product. I know D2 was over a year late, but this is insane.

Loki was kinda nice, by the way. Had some major bugs, though.

There will be scheduled maintenance, no doubt. They do that for Starcraft 2 too.

Oh, well that sucks. I still have a shrinkwrapped copy of SC 2 that i still haven't installed. Thanks for the reply.
Not overly interested thanks largely in part to the real money auction house. I'll stick with the mentioned Grim Dawn/Path of Exile/Torchlight 2 if I want a game like that.
