I have an unopened NWN Diamond edition, I was curious if this cdkey could be added to GoG? I would presume that GoG copies are more up to date, then there's the convenience of centralizing, etc... If this isn't the case for NWN Diamond, is it the case for any retail cdkeys?

Thanks.
I doubt it. There are some games on Steam you can do that with.
Nope, only for the Witcher games .

There's also Dragon Commander. Every single retail copy comes with a GOG key.

Really ? I had no idea.

Yes. I'd love to see more developers and publishers adopting this approach.
Now that is something.

Indeed, if more games would come with GOG keys, then I would actually start purchasing retail PC games again

Cool as heck. That's a very wise move, give folks the physical game and a way to be sure to have a digital fallback. Quite forward thinking, and I too hope it catches on.

Many games have already done that for a good while via Steam (and, in the process, making the disc useless as you most likely need to download the whole game on installation anyway, Divinity Dragon Commander seems to be no different).

A more appropriate sentence would be "That's a very wise move, give folks the steamworks'd game and a way to be sure to have a DRM-free fallback."

Perhaps for some, but for me the original holds the most true. I like have a physical copy (with the nice manual and maps and stuff if it comes with such), and the DRM-free backup. I care not a whit for Steam and its ilk, so it can happily remain outside of my equation. :)

Right, but what I meant is that the disc for Dragon Commander is of as much use as any other Steamworks'd game - none (physical goodies are nice, and of course the codes for the game itself, but as the installer on the disc requires Steam, it's useless).

Ah, I didn't pick up on that. Yes, in that case the disc is pretty useless. Basically all it would seem to do is save you the download time, if even that. Not really adding value then.

It would be ridiculously difficult to implement such a system on games that have were released years ago, and it wouldn't make much sense business-wise either. Sorry, but you'll just have to buy the game again on GOG when it's on discount like the rest of us.
