Fenixp: Anyway, want an RTS that kinda plays the same, try the new Red Alert games - CnC 3 was a bit too slow-paced for my liking, but RA3 is quite awesome. It's just a shame that the SP was designed with coop in mind, could have been much better without it.
It will take me a looong time to get there :D I have C&C First Decade and I have to play through them all until I get to RA3.

But I remember RA2 being one of the awesomest RTS games in history. My friend almost dropped out from school because of RA2 :D

IAmSinistar: Some of the best game music ever in that one,
Yeah, I was amazed by the soundtrack when I first launched Dune2000 today. Great music.

Of course it has! I wanted to show you some of them but I decided not to - play it yourself ;)
Too bad this cat doesn't have blue-in-blue Fremen's eyes.

Must... not... torrent...

Frank Klepaki always do a great job! (Even though in Emperor, I like better David Arkenstone's Harkonnen music)

I appear to be in the minority with House selection, as I prefer to play as House Atreides. Though in the Avalon Hill version of Dune, I always chose The Guild.
The board game is a very good one, but it is at its best when all factions are played.
And, you're not alone, In the name of the Duke! (Atreides player inside since Dune II's release ;-))

Dunecats always are awesome :D

Last I tried I couldn't get this game running in 7.
I have it running in OpenRA, but it has a bunch of changes to balance, no single-player, and the skirmish AI seems to be set up as like, hard, which is bad because even though I played this a lot as a kid, I was never particularly good, and I haven't gotten better at strategy games as I've aged.

Emperor is pretty damn awesome too. As is the board game. Once I played with my brother, and convinced him to totally place almost all his army on the Great Shield Wall. I had drawn a nuke. I'd also drew a laser. I convinced him to use a shield card on his other army that I'd convinced him to all place in one spot because he was hesitant about placing his entire army on the Great Shield Wall.
So sexy. Don't tempt me *drools*.

I vividly remember when it was released and I eyed it. It had pretty graphics back then and even now. I never managed to play it. I'd correct that mistake if I wasn't too lazy searching for the game.

You have no choice. Spice must flow, no matter what.
Here's hoping EA brings the rest of the Westwood games here.

EA's too evil for that. Look at what they did to SimCity.

keeveek: I installed Dune 2000 for the very first time (I know, I know) after finding a high resolution patch. And it's freaking awesome. I haven't had so much fun wirth RTS game for a looong time.

And from what I've seen it's pretty much the same as Dune 2 but with selection box, unit groups, left click for attack etc etc. The only disadvantage is there is no building / training queue, but the game is balanced for this system, so...

I wish there were some NEW rts games that would capture the spirit of Dune / C&C / TA games perfectly.

Harkonnen, out.
I've been wanting this game forever, really wish it comes to GOG.

Look at how many awesome classics they've brought to GOG. In case of the Dune games I presume that their hands are tied anyway, the old licensing deals have probably expired and (supposedly) Frank Herbert's family is ridiculously protective of the license now. Well, we'll see.

But yeah, I presume that the C&C games won't come to GOG because EA is abusing those to attract people to Origin which (arguably) is just evil.

keeveek: I never played Dune2000 before because of the low resolution, but now it's not a problem at all.
WTF? 640x400 is too low?

Hmm, this reminds me that I once played an OpenDune or something like that.
