Also, Enclave on "Easy" difficulty. Short levels, and once you reach the checkpoint, you can't fail the level anymore (unless you give up). And when the game appears too hard for you all of a sudden, most of the time the solution is just to switch your player character, because what's tough for one class might be really easy for another (you can choose your character at the start of each level).

Mivas: 3. Anachronox - Okay, I'm not so sure about this one. It's funny adventure RPG with FF-like combat and great characters. Combat might be probably challenging at times.
If you choose "Easy", combat diffculty is non-existent. It's almost ridiculous; good solution for everyone not interested in the combats at all, but if you want the slightest bit of challenge in the RPG part of the game, don't play on "Easy".

SHOGO is fun and easy but very oldschool

because of the concept Planescape doesn't offer any challenges in terms of gameplay. there are some difficult puzzles...

Septerra Core is easy peasy. no challenge whatsoever. and if some things give you trouble you can always go and grind.

Leroux: I think MDK & MDK 2 aren't that hard, and they allow you to save where- and whenever you want to.
Isn't this series famous for its higher difficulty?

I don't recall difficulty settings since I haven't played that game in ages. Thanks for additional information, Leroux.
Oh my god - thank you! I'm taken back by all the quick responses and suggestions. Am going through every game mentioned so far. Any more suggestions are welcome.

I don't know, is it? I admit I haven't played through them completely yet, but what I've seen so far seemed easy. And saving whenever you want to helps a lot in decreasing most games' "difficulty".

MDK 1 gets harder after the first half or so, with a lot of enemies and fewer health packs, and it's similar for MDK2. Not something I'd call easy, but I guess that's subjective.

Well, almost every MDK2 review mentions it. It's actually something putting me off to give it a try.
But yeah, a lot of reviews also say that it's a funny game.

The hitman games are a bit rough IMHO. They get better as the franchise progresses, but I didn't find them to be anything like they are advertised to be. All the planning and disguising in the world doesn't seem to matter once someone gets within 50 yards of you. So, I don't think its just you, I think the series mostly missed its mark. One of the latter games (I forget which) actually let you use disguises successfully until you blew your cover. That was much more fun. To get through the first games, I pretty much had to treat them like standard shooters, which made them pretty tough since they expected you to use funky stealth mechanics that rarely seemed to work.
The Alan Wake series on offer seems like a good deal. I'm reading conflicting reports on the difficulty though. Although not a game to chill out with, if it's got a good story and is easy to progress, I'd give it a go

If you run, people will take a closer look at you. If you move at a slow pace/don't keep on running and don't stay close to people who might see through what you are doing, then you should be fine (I developed a technique of running in very short bursts, when people got too close, which seemed to work well, though it looked a bit silly).

I had played around alot with the games, including walking. Anytime someone would approach, the detection meter would start going crazy and then they would shoot... no matter what I tried.
I normally do anything but agree with hucklebarry but he is DEAD ON with his assessment of HitMan, My only complaint is his take on 50 yards. :P FIRST mission of Silent Assassin I kept getting spotted trying to calmly walk away from the estate by goons who were a hell of a lot farther than 50 yards away.

This really wouldn't be a problem but for the limited save function. If you could save constantly it would be okay but alas you do EVERYTHING perfectly, get spotted by some asshole with built in telescopic vision, and have to start all over from the beginning.

If my memories from years ago are to be trusted, Theme Hospital became pretty damn hard after a while. I was really proud of having beaten it

I've played only the first one through, but I don't really recall it being hard at all.
