...but why?

I have it on PC, and it looks quite better then Fable 3.
Why an HD remake?
Greed and laziness. Create a widescreen hack, slap some high-red textures over the originals, jack up the price, and bingo you just made a "new" game to be sold.

^ Nailed it. Wasn't there a recent HD Age of Empires remake?
Fable 1 PC looking better than Fable 3 is a hell of a stretch
Although I agree its kind of pointless as it is already HD by simply playing at 1080p (which it has native)
Although I guess I will wait and see if they do anything with gameplay (good or bad) before judging

Why not? The game is awesome, keep giving it life and more appeal to younger generations. Great news as far as my opinion is concerned. I love this series.

Yes, but that also added in multiplayer over Steam which would be worth some of the cost of the 'remade' version.

Didn't know that. When I first saw the ad I glanced at it for five seconds and it looked like they only added a little polish to the same old game.

Anyhoo, I've never played Fable so maybe I'll be able to get the original games cheap now.
Can't view the youtube link at work, but I saw the article on IGN, isn't this just for 360?
why not bring Fable 2 to PC. I would buy it.

I've always been a bit perplexed by people's reactions to Fable. I remember when the game was first launched, where people were split into 3 camps, the "It's garbage because ol' Pete promised us so much, but it had but a very small fraction of what he promised, and even those parts were far simpler than he made them seem", then there were the "It's a rather bland and linear ARPG" crowd and finally there were the "It is the second coming of ARPGs, just look at all those choices!!!" crowd. Now people seem to have forgotten about the promises and it seem to have almost managed to get some retro-appeal.
Personally I'm firmly in the second camp, I found the game bland. It had a nice style, sure, but the gameplay was just so "meh". It worked, sure, but it was nothing special.
Fable 3 though, that one left a bad taste in my mouth.

Some games deserves HD remakes. My PS2 and Wii are not gonna last long, so I hope Resident Evil Remake, 0, Outbreak 1 and 2 and Final Fantasy XII gets HDfyed.
WHAT GOOD NEWS !!!! A FABLE HD REMAKE, IT'S WHAT I ALWAYS WANTED !!!!

Stop trying to make sense.
I still have the old black xbox version, hopefully they will include the lost chapters that came with the reissue. Good game, but its sequels were getting progressively worse with each iteration, I would prefer a reissue to another sequel.

It would be difficult to make HD versions of those Resident Evil games because they use 2D backgrounds with 3D models, so while it would be easy to make the 3D models (like characters and enemies) scale correctly, all the backgrounds could only be upscaled (similar to what happens when you emulate these games on PC).

Same goes for FF XII on PC, you can set the resolution to 1920x1080, but the 2D backgrounds are stretched.

Unless you mean a complete remake from the ground up, in which case it would be a completely new game.
