That's because if you hate MMOs yet do like mods, I'm fairly sure something you really should keep on your radar eluded you: That something is Neverwinter. Aside from being a really good action RPG, it allows for creation of user quests and campaigns, and those that I've played were pretty damn good, most of them single-player-orientated. And on top of that, Cryptic studios are really doing their best to support the modding capabilities - they do mod contests, mod highlights etc. And best of all, all of this is free, all you do need to do is to finish the tutorial section of the base game, so there's no good reason not to try it out.

The reason why I'm creating this topic is more or less to spread the word - I do believe that any initiative that gives players the power to enhance their experience should be embraced, and it's something that's not all that common in MMOs.

Advertising plant, GTFO.
I mentioned this is an earlier thread but no one responded, I'm glad if they made some success to it. I'm going to try it again.

Yes. No other people here write about games they like, and when they do, they don't tell anyone what are those games called.

Yeah, seems a bit overlooked sadly. Well, to be fair most people who played Neverwinter seem to like it quite a bit, and the game just offers something for everyone, which is great. And it has reasonable combat mechanics.

Never player it myself but out of the three peoples I know who did play it and who are both MMO and AD&D fans, they found it great the first 2-3 days but stopped playing it a little more than a week later with no intention to go back to it.

So not exactly a good start to help overcome by aversion toward MMOs and make me want to try it.

Well to be fair one of my biggest issues with MMOs is that they take up way too much time, 2-3 days is great :D At any rate, I am talking about user created content here, I wager those three people didn't even touch that. I have played 3 campaigns so far and all of them were quite interesting, self-contained little stories.
I actually have a key I redeemed for a starter pack for Neverwinter Online, yet I haven't played it... yet... =)
I tried Neverwinter for awhile it and seemed okay for an action-rpg mmo, but then there was a huge duping/money glitch and they refused to rollback the servers so I stopped playing.

Playing the FFXIV beta now though and it seems fairly good for a beta.
Sounds interesting i may look at this game at some point in the future.
Thanks for sharing, i'll give it a shot, just hope it's not a pay2win mess like marvel heroes for example...
I tried NWN, but couldn't find how to create an adventure. How is that done?

Nope - there are some apparent monetization elements, like from time to time, you gain an item which can only be opened using keys bought via zen. But you won't lose anything actually essential for the gameplay and at any point, you don't have to pay. Especially for user made adventures.

I mean Neverwinter, the MMO. Not Neverwinter Nights. At any rate, in the MMO, once one of your characters reaches lvl 15, a Forge unlocks in the main menu, which opens the editor.

For anyone that has tried both, how does this game compare overall to Rift?

Yeah, sorry, I meant Neverwinter. My mind automatically added "Nights". I do know how to create an adventure in NWN. :)

Thanks for your answer. I need to get to level 15. I guess I'll have to dedicate some time to it.
