gameon: On wiki it says that in 2004 their league folded, and they created a new one, which probably changed it to football league. " it was founded in 2004 following the folding of the National Soccer League"

Ok... So your saying they used to consider it to be soccer, but are converting to the term football. Then it would have been an age thing, which makes sense. All the Australians I've spoken to were 35+ years old.

Gunsang: I thought Rugby was developed after Association Football, but I could be wrong.

DukeNukemForever: Or maybe that way ;-) I only remember that there was a split up between the two, because one group wanted to use their hands with a closer and tougher gameplay while the others preferred a cleaner play using only the foot.
I believe that the term football came into use a while before the split, but again I could be wrong. Anyone care to fact check?

Rugby was originally called football rugby, while football was called football association (and still is, but everybody just uses football instead).
Rugby also predates football by about 20 years, although it's kind of hard to tell since there were games pretty similar to it, except without all those pesky rules.

From what I read in a book about football's history, it was actually an Anglican priest who taught in a school who developed football, because he felt rugby was too violent.

Interesting. I really need to spend some time to get deeper in that topic.

Yeah, I need to more than you apparently. Thank you, mystral!

Robbeasy: 'Azerbaijani club Baku FC have appointed Vugar Guloglan oglu Huseynzade, aged just 21, as their new manager in preference to French former European player of the year Jean-Pierre Papin - based on his experience of playing the computer game Football Manager'.

Found this on the BBC website - theres FM's next marketing year sorted!
This has been doing the rounds all week. Unfortunately, it is an extremely misleading story.
