Haha...
The Diablo II website had a feature called MP3 of the Week. Each week they added a song to the list - many of them alternate versions or outtakes - usually with notes by Matt Uelmen on the process of writing or performing the piece. At the time this was the granddaddy of free awesomeness in my book. They've since been moved and are a bit tough to find.

Looks great, but unfortunately the download links seem broken...
The beautiful Trine soundtrack is not free, but you can download the main theme on the composer's website.

Oh man that sucks, I'm sorry I didn't check it myself. Say what you will about Blizzard but their download links are usually okay. :x There's no mirror up, and the outtakes & so forth aren't on the iTunes store with the proper soundtrack either. Bleh.
Let's keep an eye on that and sooner or later they will fix it, hopefully.
Update : Blast off soundtracks. Cool ambient musics.
Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare Official Soundtrack. Free.
Bit of a nostalgia trip, I might add.
Updates : XIII century (nice medieval themes), Battle rage and Elven legacy.
Wow. Are you sure this is legal?
I loved the KQ6 soundtrack. I liked the game too. It's the only decent game made by Roberta Williams, probably because she had help from Jane Jensen.

Tsunami: Wow. Are you sure this is legal?

Of course it is. Everything is from official websites or composer's websites. Not all publishers/composers are greedy you know, and sometimes (yes, sometimes) they give away stuff. Just enjoy it ;)
Updates : space war commander and 3 songs of Banjo & Kazooie.
Because I saw it in thread: [url=http://www.kloonigames.com/blog/crayonphysics/day-2-music-of-crayon-physics-deluxe]Crayon Physics Deluxe.
Very nice soundtracks. Thx.
