It's not that bad, but it became substantially worse after merging with Gamespot. Incidentally, GS's terrible except for the Candid Collector's Union, where I post occasionally. Also, I've written some lists and reviews and FAQs for GF. They don't butcher your content unlike some other sites.
4chan is its own circle in Hell. I don't know how you could compare it to GF.

It does not help that they tend to lock threads after a certain period of time. This especially affects obscure games. Helps kill the old boards. Plus you got spammers who spam them. It's still a good resource though, no matter how crapped on it is.
4 Chan depends on the board you go to. /u/ is good when it's not trolled;same as /gif/. /K/ on the other hand tends to be creepy when politics comes to discussion.
