captfitz: Dude 28th! Ok, on the 27th we're having a joint birthday thread for real.

Hey, April 26th for me too.

My birthday is the 28th
A full party thread seems more appropriate then
Just turned 20 on April 5th. :D
I'm more of a console gamer myself, but my first real gaming experience was the original Prince of Persia on a computer in my mom's office. Never could defeat that first guard/opponent, but whatever.
Our neighbours used to take care of me, and I'd always play Sokoban, Prehistorik, Heretic, some kind of winter olympics game, lots of stuff on their DOS computer.
But it wasn't until I got a portable Tetris machine and a GameBoy a bit later that really kicked off my hobby. Pokemon Red and Super Mario...
And then, the PlayStation came along, a videogame store opened up just a few steps from my building and there you have it, instant Sony fanboy. Played a heck of a lot, people even admired my skills. I was one of the rare kids who liked Final Fantasy, could beat every Crash level 100%, find all of the remotes in Gex, beat anyone in Tekken 3 with Hwoarang...
Sweet days.
Recently, I actually obtained a mediocre gaming capable machine, and it somehow coincided with GOG's appearance and here I am, reliving all of those sweet sweet classics I heard so much about but never got the chance to experience.
The biggest nostalgia crush was certainly Heroes III, I had so much fun with my friends in grade school playing multiplayer maps... It almost made me weep with joy when I clicked the download button. :')
35 here been playing games a long time here is a list of machines i have had over the years
Vic 20
Spectrum
Atari STFM
Atari STE
Atari Falcon
Atari Jaguar
And 4 pcs thereafter.
Loved the classic games from spectrum/atari st era good for playability pity modern games dont have thatr.
Will be 30 soon.
Started on hand-held Tiger-like games, then got an Atari 7800, and that was the last console I'd ever had. Been purely a PC gamer since then.
I will be 34 in less than a month.
I have been gaming for around 25 years. My first computer was the this page.
I only remember a couple games from it. One was a draw program that I used a tablet for, tgw other was a racing game where one could race difference vehicles (dune buggies, muscle cars, whatever) in many different environments (Moon, Io, Neptune, etc). I know there were others, but it was soooo long ago...
After that I had a XT/286. I remember I had two 5.25 floppy drives on that one and a 20 megabyte HD, and I thought I was the bomb.

I turned thirty in December and have been gaming for as long as I can remember had myself a Spectrum when I was a kid and played on my friends Commodore 64. I've been more of a console gamer and have owned most of the Nintendo consoles over the years I picked up a Megadrive, PS1 and PS2 near the end of their lives so always tend to play older games. My PC gaming would pick up every time I got a new computer and would then drift away again as I begun to be unable to play any new games. This site has helped me fill in some of those gaps and play classics that I missed the first time around.

Ois: 27, gaming for about 25 years. Although at the age of 2 it was more mashing buttons and keys on the C=64 than playing anything :)

Almost exactly the same here!
I'll hit 27 in august, and had that C64 around since 1985.;)

Aliasalpha: After that I got the c64 which astonished me regularly with its epic levels of awesome. I remember one incident when at school, some kid in my class had this magic new thing called a nintendo. Everyone was amazed and envious, it was the most awesome thing ever, the games were like nothing we ever played before and it was infinitely better than everything else in the universe. Naturally I was curious and so went for a look, played super mario brothers and a handful of other NES classics and was distinctly underwhelmed so came home and played GOOD games on the 64 instead, Wizball, The Bards Tale, Paradroid...

Ha! Had a similar experience when i was young. Though everyone had that NES clone, and they've played something called Contra. I called it Gryzor, and thought it sucked, because after Last Ninja, the bar is pretty high.:) But i was the only kid with a C64 at school. Damn, i've felt so l33t.;P
Then i got my hands on an IBM XT, and slowly climbed my way up.
And the main reason for me buying a faster rig in 2006 was the plan to play Crusader in DosBOX with a decent framerate. And i'm still on it, awaiting something worth an upgrade.. like.. WinBOX or something.
I focus on single player content, complex gameplay [as in non-consolitis], best if it's 3d-free [pre 1997 or so].
I have never owned a console, and never wish to own one.
Atari VCS (Not the all plastic 2600)
Commodore Vic-20
Spectrum 48k +
Spectrum 128k +2
Atari ST520 FM with extra RAM
Escom 486Sx25
486 DX2/66
Cyrix 166
AMD K62 350
AMD Athlon 1ghz
Pentium 2.4ghz Quad core Q66 (Present system)
Consoles.
Playstation
Playstation 2
Playstation 3
Xbox
Xbox 360
Dreamcast
Still own the 360 and PS3. Dreamcast I had very cheap and really only got it for a few games, namely the Shenmue games and Skies of Arcadia.
Just turned 34 (sigh)
I will just talk about the systems I owned as I played a lot more.
The first system I actually owned was an Atari 800XL, my parents knew what a computer was but not what a good one was. I wanted a Commodore 64 but no it was the Atari which was useless in Europe. Still the Mastertronic £1.99 range kept me in a few games. The best of which was a little collect-em-up called Spellbound and the Skips advertisement BMX Biker starring Clumsy Colin.
I then got an Amstrad 1512 with 2(!) 5 1/4" floppy drives. Generally it's CGA was useless for games but there were still classics with games like Technocop and Bruce Lee.
I finally discovered true gaming nirvana when I got an Amiga 500 and the 1MB expansion. I instantly fell in love with the Cinemaware and Bitmap Brothers games. It was also my first experience with games like Dungeon Master, Civilization and Powermonger.
I then moved to the consoles with the Megadrive and SNES. I was quite sad at first as they had worse graphics and sound than the Amiga but then I discovered Mario Kart and Street Fighter 2.
I toyed with PC's for a while with a Pentium 75 and the astonishing Command & Conquer and Warcraft. However at the time PC's were a complete pain in the hole with Windows 95 so I moved back to the consoles with the Sega Saturn and there I stayed. Had a Playstation and N64 as well but the Saturn had the games I loved more.
Dreamcast, Playstation 2, Xbox and Gamecube I stayed with consoles but when the next gen 360 and PS3 were on the horizon I was just bored so I finally moved back to the PC. To this day I still don't have any of the current consoles, nothing interests me enough to buy one.
Over the years I have collected everything from the Jaguar to the Neo Pocket Color. I think I even have a Wonderswan somewhere...
40. Started gaming on the Commodore 64. I remember typing in lines and lines of code from the commodore magazine, then debugging until I could play the game. Oh, the good old days.
I've enjoyed games on on the PC for many years, and had no interest in console games until I discovered emulators, then realized that the the games were less interesting to me than getting them to run (although there were some gems). I loved hacking my dreamcast, and still can't figure out why I sold it. The first console games I consistently enjoyed playing were for the xbox (had more of PC feel. Wait a minute--most of them WERE pc games. I guess the xbox, to me, was less a console and more a pc game player that you didn't have to upgrade every six months).
