So it's Christmas time, and I can't help but notice how many games are currently on sale that aren't in a bundle. That's great, but you know what'd be even greater?

If they all were. I've been eyeballing my Wishlist a few days now hoping that a couple items will actually turn orange and go 50% (or more) off, but this as not been the case. In particular, the Legacy of Kain games, along with some of the indie titles, still seem to be normally priced.

Why not just do a catalog-wide sale? I'm a little baffled that more stuff isn't on sale, to be perfectly honest.

I saw somewhere that the sales are going til either the 26th, or the 3rd of January, not sure which.. but yeah, it's a little strange that some aren't discounted.

I made a new thread cause honestly the General Discussion section is massive and trying to find a relevant thread in the hundreds of pages isn't going to work, and searching still doesn't allow us to organize by date.
From what I gather it's not entirely up to GOG unfortunately.

The Legacy of Kain series are Squeenix games, and those were on sale for a shorter period. Still, they're pretty cheap already, and a lot less than they're worth, so I say pick them up anyway if you don't have them already.
Any digital content distributor such as GOG have to arrange all the deals with the publishers involved. Some publishers don't want to have their game discounted for some reason or another.

On the legacy of kain issue: Square Enix games where only discounted until the 19th. It was announced beforehand.

On some indies: I assume there are some recent releases. Not many game developers are willing to have their newly released games go straight to promo.

There are a few more games which were not discounted, and are not part of any of the two categories you listed, but those are few.
I'm waiting for Hotline Miami would go on sale. Both Steam and Gamersgate have had it on sale for 50% off now so imagine it won't be a real long wait..

If I had more money I probably would - and I know they're already half the Steam price which I was surprised to learn - but I only have so much to spend, and I had kind of wanted to get them for a friend whose been long interested in the series, but never had access to them on consoles.

Unfortunately, her financial situation doesn't allow her the luxury of buying games online so gifting is the only real option I have. But yeah, was surprised to see them and others not currently on sale with GOG, while they're still discounted on Steam. So I was rather curious about it. It is a shame that GOG doesn't have the freedom to do sales the same way, I do think it'd help them out a bit, and the holidays are all about impulse buying with us gamers, I know I'm definitely guilty of that.

EDIT: I didn't know the SquareEnix games were announced to only the 19th. That's a shame, cause that's when I was having to deal with a fraud issue on my bank account. It's been resolved, but took the better part of two weeks to finally get it settles because they had to wait for it to process.

Well, they have been on sale, you just missed it. Also, I hate that GOG has to lose a couple of sales on my part, but... Gamersgate has them for the same price as GOG, but they're currently 50% off. Maybe buy them there?

EDIT: They only have SR 1+2 and Defiance, but those are the main core of the plot, so it's OK if she misses BO2.

Gamer's Gate, eh? I'll see if she has an account with them - gotta have something to gift it to, you know? Thanks for the suggestion.

And yeah, BO2 was okay gameplay wise, but the plot was pretty forgettable compared to the others.

If she doesn't already have an account, you can just gift the games to your own e-mail address, then PM her the URL, and she can redeem them after she makes the account.
Oh, hadn't thought about that. Thanks, again.
