triock: Sorry, I overlooked this part "purely vocal, no display" :D But there are also co called Sound Novels. ;)
Interesting. I never heard of those. They seem to form some sort of mostly Japanese niche market?

Could you recommend an English one that's available for free (or cheap) to give it a try? Preferably one with a more Western background (I find it hard to relate to Japanese story tropes), but I fear that's too much to ask ...

Sorry again, never "played" any of this. And I doubt there is something like Western Sound Novel. :D
Endless Ocean and Rune Factory are perfect recliner-and-console games, either can actually relax you enough to put you into the right mindset for sleep.

Jigsaw puzzles and word searches on my tablet.
My favorite "tired" game: "Stop playing games and go to bed!" :-)
For some reason I seem to do tremendously well with pinball games when I'm just about to zone out and my fingers are just working on reflex. I swear I've gotten my best hiscores that way.
FTL: Faster Than Light springs to mind. Sure, you'll mess up a bit, but there aren't many games that you can play well while tired. You run out of new events very quickly, so it's mostly about looking at the shape of the paragraphs.
I wake up a bit early than usual in the morning so I can enjoy some coffee and slowly wake up as opposed to rushing out the door. Skyrim or Guild Wars 2 as of late have been good morning sessions for me. Can do a bit of exploring and accomplish a little bit before I start my day.
