Phaidox: The Gamersgate version of Faces of War seems to be heavily discounted (60% off) at the moment, does anyone know whether it's DRM free or not?

GOG, would you kindly release it here already? I'm on the verge of purchasing it from your competitor (GASP)!
I have never used Gamersgate myself but the last time I looked any third party drm is usually disclosed in the system requirements box somewhere (taking men of war:Vietnam as an example). strangely I cant seem to see one. your best bet would probably be to email gamersgate and ask them directly but the only place I would trust for DRM free is GOG.

Thanks. You are right, the DRM type (or lack thereof) is generally listed on the game page.
It might be a while before GOG finally release FoW here, unfortunately.
I just opened a Gamersgate account to buy the X-Com bundle (the old games) and they are only "sort of" DRM-free. You pay for the games and then you download LINKS to the games (in this case, there are five games in the bundle, each of which requires installing separately). By double-clicking on these links (which appear as desktop icons) you then download and install the games proper, and this requires an internet connection. What this means is that if you want to uninstall and then reinstall a game you will have to be online and connected to Gamersgate. So if Gamersgate ever ceases to exist then (I assume) you will no longer be able to reinstall a game you have bought from them. So it's not DRM-free in the GOG sense of the concept. Please correct me if I'm wrong as I've only just joined.

And yes, you can buy games on Gamersgate which have some kind of DRM, including Steam. This information is always included in the product description (along with required system specs etc.) If you have a debit card you will probably need to open a PayPal account if you don't already have one, which is very easy. Again, please correct me if I'm wrong.

There's an easy way to circumvent that by following this piece of advice:

MJVandershonk: Since GOG reacquired the rights to sell Soldiers: Heroes of WW2, I've been wondering if they would be bringing the other "sequels" like men of war , Vietnam and assault squad. There are listings in the wishlist with men of war leading on a whopping 29 votes so I've decided to try and bring this to the community's attention so we can get men of war on here.

here are the links to the wishlists:

Men of War

Vietnam

Assault Squad

Faces of War

Call to Arms

Red Tide

condemned_heroes

If any of you are at all interested in these games then please vote on the wishlist so we can get these games fully updated and DRM free.

Thanks
