wpegg: This did make me laugh. I hope that was the intent, and I haven't greatly insulted you.

Out of interest, as one of those world saving lawyers, do you know of a crime that doesn't require intent? I assume there are various negligence offences and financial failures?
Some places distinguish between voluntary and involuntary manslaughter at least.

But doesn't the involuntary manslaughter derive from intentional negligence?

First you have the whole "involuntary shebang", which is usually restricted to stuff that harms other persons. Like causing an accident which steared that gasoline tanker truck right into the daycare center for cute little girls. I can't think of any property crime that can be done "involuntary" (apart from big corporate stuff). "Involuntary arson" however, is possible, but that is because it is a "crime with great danger for others".

Then there is, at least in german criminal law, a construction called "dolus eventualis" which basically says your neglicence was that big, that it has to be treated like intent.

The opposite are cases were you trying to commit a crime, but fail. Like shooting at somebody and missing all the time (The Stormtrooper paradox). Then your "intend" gets punished. Not every crime has a "punishable try" and sometimes, if the "trying" is to redicoulus, it's also not punished (Beheading somebody with a foam axe).

Not every negligence does fit the bill of "involuntary manslaughter". If you did everything that could be expected by you and the accident occured anyway, you are free to go. But, eg. you crossed a red light, which causes the above mentioned tanker incident, then you are already in "criminal waters".

Most places seem to have a very different idea on what counts as involuntary manslaughter and what does not. But I think there are some places where a misinterpretation of risk when performing a lawful act is enough to count as involuntary manslaughter. But I'm not really sure about this, I don't work as a lawyer or anything.

tonyd711: Anyone else had any billing issues trying to buy anachronox? I put my credit card info in like usual, and it said there was a problem with charging my account. I re entered my cc info and tried to buy it a second time. I was once again told that there was a problem with processing my credit card. I knew that I had entered it correctly, so I went to my cc account and saw that even though gog had told me that it had been unable to process my charge it had actually charged my account both times. I just want to buy the damn game.
Two things, tonyd711:

1. I'm the head of PR & marketing, so I can't process financial transactions. Sorry to hear you had a billing error, but I guarantee you that Firek will take a look at this tomorrow.

2. It looks to me like you haven't submitted a support ticket yet for this issue. Doing so will guarantee that our crack support team gets back to you quickly; they don't spend as much time doing community management as I do, so they might miss this posting if you don't follow it up with a support ticket.

Apologies, again, for your billing error, and I'm sure we'll get things sorted out soon. :)

So he didn't even bother submitting a support ticket before posting this? I was about to complain about the down-voting, but now it seems warranted.

Maybe he did, and it was stolen.

Intentionally or unintentionally?

Or after posting, though the first reply included a link.
nigga stole his support tickets, too...?

Black Sunday it is.
I had a little bit of trouble paying for Anachronox when I bought it, but that was because I'd just paid for something with PayPal about five minutes earlier. I kept getting a "You're already logged in" error from PayPal (which is something I've never seen before). So I paid with a CC.

Anyway, I had this problem with Steam once. I learned right away that after a payment looks successful, but I get a "Payment Error" message, to check my bank account right away for activity. If there's a charge (called a "Hold", which is money set aside by the bank, but not actually sent to the payee just yet, or something like that; the point is it's not final at this juncture), I check my "Library" to see if the game has been added. The couple of times this has happened (and with a spotty connection, it happens), the "Payment Error" message was the actual error, and the payment had been completed just fine.

The point being, there's a reason a message has been posted that says "Click Submit only once!".

Ticket thieving bastards! These bloody GOG people will nick anything that's not bolted down!
I'll tell you what, you'll get more support here than at DotEmu on any given day.
Try getting something sorted on Steam if there is an error with moneybookers, paypal or click&buy, they have a habit of you getting the game if it doesnt go through properly. Then it could be a few weeks later, one of those 3 merchants could do a random chargeback and it costs you the chargeback price and you cant open the client until it is paid so you have no access to your games.

Happened to me just after Christmas, lot of activity on my Paypal account so they thought something was up so they decided to chargeback the Steam payment and a few others even though there was plenty in the Paypal account. Got in touch with support not knowing what was going on and got no reply from them at all. Took a while to actually work out what had happened, thought account had been hacked at first or banned for using a few mods on Oblivion. They didnt have the courtesy to email me saying that it was an issue with Paypal.

At least GOG do actually get back to you pretty quick. I wanted to know if I could somehow add my Witcher key to access it from GOG as origional disc versions are funny with activation on new systems now. They could have easily ignored it but they took the time to just say sorry cant be done.
