Significantly more brutal than snail racing!

Carmageddon Max Pack, the world-infamous racing game featuring the most dangerous automobiles ever conceived, is available 60% off on GOG.com. That's only $3.99 for the next 24 hours.

Snail racing might be the most entertaining spectator sport ever conceived. John McCririck, a professional horse race commenter, did a wonderful job commenting the Guinness Gastropod Championship, that was held in London in 1999. After the event he said "It's always difficult to study the form with snails because they hide inside their shells - but it's actually much easier to commentate on the race because it's slower than horse racing." Slower? Yeah, maybe. But how fierce! The terrestrial pulmonate gastropod molluscs, commonly known as land snails, are famous for their insatiable hunger for victory and lettuce. They will stop at nothing and the shell-cracking collisions happen more often than you'd think. But if all this brutal rivalry isn't enough for you, if you crave a show even more ferocious, you can try [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/carmageddon_max_pack]Carmageddon.

As far as racing games go, Carmageddon Max Pack is the ultimate thrill. The chemically unstable drivers in their machines of mechanical mayhem will deliver the unlimited speed showdown right to your screen. Our version of the game comes with the Splat Pack expansion, the unforgettable soundtrack, and even 13 papercraft cars that will let you recreate the automobile atrocity at home. (NOTICE: playing with papercraft cars is probably the only legal way to recreate Carmageddon in real life environment!)

Do you want to find out why the windscreen wipers are considered to be the most important part of a racecar? Grab Carmageddon Max Pack now, for only $3.99!

Pangaea666: I remember trying Carmageddon 2, and being thoroughly unimpresssed. It was NOTHING liike the original, and a considerably less fun game to play.
I have no idea how the first one is because I started with the second one, which I really really loved.
is there a mod that makes this game like starwars pod-racer?
Finally craved in and bought this game both for myself (completely unfamiliar with the series) and one of my friends who has been a Carmageddon fanatic since this game was released, he hasn't played it in a really long time...I'm betting that this gift will make him very happy indeed :)

Everyone grab it while you still can!
God damn mother. Already picked this gem up. Carmageddon 2 por favor.

Hmm, I don't quite see why. IIRC, the basic gameplay was the same.

Some people complained that the blocky pedestrians of Carma 2 are not as graphic as the 2D bitmap pedestrians of Carma 1, when they die and such. The Carma 2 pedestrians mainly break into smaller bits. I didn't find that as a problem.

What I personally didn't like with Carma 2 were the mission levels (every fourth level, IIRC). The main pull of the game was always the semi-free exploration and doing your own thing (ok, usually it meant you just tried to destroy all the enemy cars), while those missions were exactly the opposite, forcing you to race through predetermined paths and such.

But other than that, I think it was a good successor to Carma 1. I had lots of fun with it.

I haven't yet properly played the third game, but the little I tried, I didn't like that much.
And it's over!
:(

Thought this lasted longer, and now the chance is gone. Came on to buy it now too :(

Those paths were what I didn't like about Carmageddon 2. It's been a long time of course, but it didn't have the same feel at all to me. The original kept me splatting people for weeks on end, and the 2nd was just meh.
