Hi everyone. Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this question, but I didn't know where else to post it!
I love GOG so far, and I'm really enjoying getting back into games like Fallout, Interstate `76, and Freespace 2. The only issue I have so far is that several of the installers I've tried automatically install Adobe reader after they've finished installing the game!
I hate adobe reader, and I don't want it on my computer. I don't much care for Foxit, either. It's always a pain to have to uninstall them, and I'm never sure if I've removed them all, and scrubbed out their security holes.
Is there a way to install the GOG games without having to install a PDF reader? I feel like there must be a way to opt out, and I'm just being dense. Any help anyone might be able to provide would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Just click cancel on the PDF reader installer, it won't terminate the game install.
Just curious, which GOG installers want to install Adobe Reader? I can't remember that happening to me.

Fallout just did it to me when I was reinstalling it. I think Rise of the Triad tried to install Foxit. Also, I think either Freespace or Shogo tried to install Adobe.

All of them will, but if it's already installed, then none of them will. It's required as all the manuals are in pdf format.
isn't there an option in options to NOT install adobe actobat reader? I think there is, I even remember unticking it at some point...

That's kind of what I'm wondering. I'm pretty dense, and I haven't noticed such an option. If someone knows where it is and I'm overlooking it, I'd appreciate knowing, even if it makes me a dunce!

That's strange, as I don't have Adobe Reader on either of my PCs. I'm using SumatraPDF, and I'd be really impressed if the GOG installers are actually detecting such an obscure PDF reader. ...or maybe they are just detecting whether the pdf file extension is associated with anything?
The association would be far easier to look for than every possible utility that could possibly open the format.
I must admit, I have never seen the GOG installer install Adobe Acrobat reader, I've only seen Foxit Reader from GOG. But back to the original question, when you start the GOG installer, click advanced, uncheck Foxit Reader (or Adobe Acrobat if it says that), and your good to go.
Click to Options on the setup and you can see the selection.

Bingo! Thanks so much. I must be blind, but that's precisely what I'm looking for.
I recommend SumatraPDF and I think (even based on a suggestion I made at one point) the GOG installer detects SumatraPDF and will never prompt you to install a PDF reader again.
Sumatra has a blindingly bright download page, but it's a wonderful app that does only one thing: Reads PDFs. No additional features whatsoever.
If you click "Options" you can untick a PDF reader.
I know this is a necro, but i have had "Foxit reader" try to install with Two Worlds, and now with Arcanum. Is this bundled into the install file, or do i have a virus/malware?

Bundled, if pdf files aren't associated with something, it will try to install.
